1. They are a great low buck locker
2. you don't have to change your carrier for one
3. They hold up to some seriously tough abuse
4. Poweretrax does not recommend nor want to warranty over 35" tires

I'm one that has problems with my lockright. When I sent the first one back they replaced it under warranty but now a week later the new one is acting up. I was told (not by Richmond Gear) that the stock cross pin with flats machined in it was to blame for the first one failing so I'm running the hardened cross pin. When I called today, the tech told me to make sure that the carrier is within tolerance. If he had told me that when he shipped the new one I wouldn't be opening the diff for the 5th time.
I would definitely do it again tho now that I know more about it. Use the hardened cross pin (with no flats) and make sure the spacing is within spec and you'll be fine.

If you plan on keeping your axles for a long time or run really large tires, stick with a full case locker like a Detroit. That being said I have run a LockRight in the front of my TJ with 35's for about a year and a half with great results (knock on wood). If I was planning on keeping the D30 I would have gone with a better locker but the LR has served me well and they have a good warranty. I did have one about 5 years ago in the back of a YJ that I bought used, stripped some teeth on the gears, sent it back and a few days later had a brand new unit. Never had another problem since. Can't really go over all the pros and cons in a paragraph but let me know if you have any more specific ?'s.
BTW, do you have trac-lok or another limited slip diff in your jeep? Can't use them if you do.

I've been running them (front and rear) in my CJ for several years now. Havent had any problems. They are not the strongest units available, but price and ease of installment makes them ideal for jeeps that arent running hugemongus tires.......i probably would go with a stronger locker if i was over 36" tires. I've been pretty hard on mine and havent broken them.
Some people experience problems with them locking/unlocking at random. This is usually because of the case tolerance due to a warn carrier. A case within tolerance specs shouldnt do this. Mine's within specs and have never had an issue. Also, a lot of breakage is contributed to the same thing....warn carrier. Powertrax warns buyers over and over about this, but they choose to ignore it and bitch and moan when their locker acts up or explodes because they were to lazy to check the tolerance between the drivers. they usually blame it on the locker being "weak"

thoughts on lockright locker
how do those of you feel that have them, or have had them like them? they are about half the price of the big name detroit lockers or ARB. do they suck or what/
