Sounds like an AWESOME build!!! Thanks for mentioning the Old Willys Forum; we have a '49 Willys P/U and I was unaware of that resource. |

Metalguy | Thanks for the kind words. I have a build log on Old Willys Forum under the same username. I lengthened the cab 15", built a window from a wagon I cut up. Now with the 15" + 5" that was behind where I cut, I now have 20" behind the door. It's going onto a shortened suburban frame with a D60, 14bff, 205, 4l80e and a 6.0 lq4. Slow going because I'm on a tight budget but I'll get there.

Went through the whole thread and didn't see any FCs? Aren't those considered Willys? Anyway, here's my project, FC-170 / 1961. Starting point: Attachment 2309634 Current status: Attachment 2309642Attachment 2309650Attachment 2309658 Stock motor L6-226 / Super Hurricane + T90 + D18 & Dana44 + Dana53. Biggest things still to do after I have passed MOT: - hydraulic winch to front (Mile marker Type R) - swap T90 to T98 - swap Danas to Volvo C303 portal axles - Creepy Crawlers 38.5/14.5-16 or 35/16-16 boggers with beadlocks once the portals are in place More project images: Jeep Willys FC-170 |

WILLYN | Further research on the color has turned up nothing. Bronzemist is all I remember of that. The actual prep and paint is the one thing I farmed out. That is a long and boring story, but the guy said with two tone paint that he liked to put a little bit of each color into the other color. Said it brings the two colors together. He was supposed to give me repeatable formulas but he didn't. Wish I knew more!

Gojeep | Thanks for the reply. Couldn't find anything to match those paint criteria for the Lexus Bronzemist, so if you find any more info, be much appreciated.

Thanks, I'm glad you guys like it. The paint is DuPont from about ten years ago. The colors are for Lexus. I think it was Bronzemist and Desert Sand Mica. The wagon has been on the road for four or five years at least, and it took over twelve years to put together. I was too busy building it to learn how to use the computer, same goes for my CJ2A. Now that I have some free time I am trying to figure this out. I do have lots of pics. Here's the engine bay. https://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/atta...1&d=1540808881 |

I'm not sure this is extreme, but it was for me at the time. It has a 283 and turbo 400 with dodge axles. https://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/atta...1&d=1540808751 |

One of the PO's had dropped a SBC 307 into the '61 torching a hole in the firewall and mating it to the original T90. I bought an SM420 with a Dana 300 adapter from another Pirate member and have a ff 14 bolt that will go in the rear and I am contemplating narrowing the long side of a W150 Dana 44 and swapping on the outers from the 10 bolt front that came out of the truck that donated the 14 bolt. All the cool old Willys trucks and wagons in this thread are great inspiration! |

"You picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel!"![]() Yep, guess I should have brought my old POS trailer rather than the car dolly. Fortunately there was a hotel just down the street from where the tire/wheel departed. Jumped on Craigslist and located a trailer for sale and went and bought it in the morning, stuck the wheel back on and loaded the truck and dolly. ![]() |

Here is my '61 Willys truck project. It was a Christmas gift from my wife in 2013. Here it is on our car dolly headed home from Maine to Vermont in a snow storm, what could possibly go wrong?![]() ![]() |
