yep read through all of that just as soon as you posted it.. mine is a single ended ram. but I can see how it works from you pictures. so I need to get it all apart, just cut, hell a chunk of pipe that fits over the ram. and button it all up.. and good to go.
as I say I ordered the 4 inch rams.. but I will play with the 6 inchers that I can't return..
I have been wheeling with this set up for 3 years and maybe 4000 miles. love the heck out of it..
first I got it for my wife, as I saw that the wheel would tear out of her hands when she hit a rock on the side of the wheel.. got scared for her breaking her wrist or hand.. so then I did this hydro assist.. much better, but I can not get her to not pull on the wheel when bound up... or trying to turn shorter.. she just donsn't get it. when the wheels stop turning.. don't pull.. I am too guilty of this. I just thank God it let go where it did..
so the stock pump, tapping the box as instructed here.
the hydro assist puts out alot more power then you think it would.
sky's arms are 4 to 4.25 inch on the cylinder. I would love to see how trail gear says they can do the full 6 inches.
I am a little shocked that even here on the pirate the travel of the toy front is 6 inchs... NOT...
i think that it should be added to the FAC..... the toy front steering with sky's arms is only 4 inches.

just looked,, didn't see any of the black text.. the other end just has two holes about 3/8 inch deep like a spaner wrench. one hole on the side that I fear is a compression lock of some sort.
the new ones that I just ordered I figured that I would cut off the fixed end with the chop saw, fill that end with water, and re weld that end on with my 30 degrees drop on it.

you been here 10 years and still havent fingered out the black text.
need a pic of the other end of the cyl so we can see how it comes apart.
you will also have to limit it on the outside as well as internally for your single ended cyl..
all you have to do is get it apart, and insert something on the shaft. big washers, piece of uhmw you cut with a hole saw etc. etc. then re assemble and put the same ammount of whaterv on the outside of the shaft as well.
(1/2 yer limited distance per side)

how??? I would love to do it my self. I am new to this. how or what kind of wrench do you need to get it apart. I tried a pipe wrench with the other end in a vice. I could not get it to move. so please share... I will have two extra cylinders that are 6 inch.. I would love to have spares. I can return the new one that I just ordered.
I have been on here for almost 10 years. I have never seen a write up on this. I don't post much because of all the crap that you can get on here.
I have seen you name on many really good builds. you usually post up really good home grown information. you are not usually one of the (search newbie guys)..
so I can make a wrench out of some scrap and a few bolts.. but really I put the shait to that thing and the pipe wrench just slipped... I don't want to go for 6 or 8 hours works to make a spacer that I don't know how to make, just to put it all back together and have it blow on the first try.
like you,,, you have done all this stuff, fawked up.. learned, made it work. I have done that a few times and shared it.. you do good work. I have seen it on here time and time again.
so how can I mod my now extra two cylinders for spares for 50 cents..
from what I make an hour that is about 3 minutes.

well called a bunch of machine shops in the area. way cheaper to just order new cylinders. the mod of the 6 inch was running between 75 to 120 per cylinder... so I just ordered the 4 inchers...

thanks guys.. I wanted to give as much info as I could.
search is pretty usless when you type in hydro, just brings up way to much to sort through.
dammmit.. just checked the site again.. they didn't have this one up a week ago..
just orded a 3rd cylinder for modification too....
shait. but on the other hand I think that extra 1/4 inch will make a difference.
how important is a 1/4 inch travel on hydro.
at 4 1/4 my tires just touch the springs. it is a toyota using sky's arms.

limiting hydro cylinder with internal spacers, how do you do it?
what do you use on the shaft to limit the travel?
I am breaking TRE's do to the over travel of my cylinders on the hydro assist.
I want to do it internally to shorten the over all length of the cylinder as well as the travel.
I have a 6 inch 1.5 inch with a 1 inch shaft cylinder that I want to limit to 4 and 1/4 inch.
I also need to cut the swivel ball off one end and rotate it about 30 degrees.
the fittings are hitting my oil pan.
here is the way I set it up, I don't want to cut the mount off the diff.
I have two trucks set up this same way, mine and the wife's.
here is the cylinder that I need to modify.
