understand that, I was just saying that they could just be out to give tickets that day and get unlucky as I did.

didnt mean anything by it and didnt think you directed anything my way either... was just pointing out the way I got pulled

uglyscout I got pulled over on I-5 in my Scout -- the cop wanted both mud flaps AND fender flares. I didn't get a ticket or anything but it sure was a hassle and I am sure had my truck not been up to snuff on anything else i would have a ticket for sure... I think having all my teeth and insurance goes a long ways with the cops...

cool. thanks for the info.. i dont wanna sell it either, which is why i'd rather my brother drive it so i can still see it. if it stays here then it stays here

MT4Runner Mudflaps will go a long way.

If you have no mudflaps and get pulled over, count on getting fines for both no mudflaps and no flares.

drove this around the salem area for about a year.Didn't drive it around alot but I never was pulled over.Occasionaly I had mudflaps on but in the rain I had a 20 foot roost like mentioned above.I've driven a couple other rigs with almost all of the tire outside the fender.Never been pulled over.Just depends on the officer and how you're driving I guess.
they do have laws sbout the tires being covered by flares and mudflaps for any vehicle with specific bumper heights etc etc.But again...I guess it depends on the officer and if he feels like pulling you over or not.
Bring it up.I wouldn't leave it behind.Just do some quick disco mudflaps like i had and you'll more than likely be fine.If not I'll be happy to take it off your hands

BossBuilt If they see you driving in the rain you will get a ticket. If you've ever driven in the rain with your tires hanging out like that you'll know what I'm talking about.Other than that, it's just another reason for them to pull you over if they see you doing something they don't like(like driving on the free-way). The only time I've gotten a ticket is in the rain and it's a fix-it ticket.Just send in a picture of your fix along with a written appearance and a check for the full fine.If they approve they will send the check back like nothing ever happened.

ya because I was driving like a complete "jackass"

It was rush hour traffic, I was on the highway, i was in the slow lane going little under the speed limit if any thing

the cop was going the other way, he wiped around and came after me

took him over 10 mins. to catch up to me

it has nothing to do with the way you drive, it has to do with the cop and the if he needs to fill up his tickets for the month. and I just got lucky enough he needed one more ticket

poorboy1 It just depends on the cop/trooper. I was pulled over for mudflaps in a 75 chevy with 4" lift and 33" tires on hwy 99. He might get away with it for 2 years no problems or get busted the first trip.

Less likely to get bothered if it is clean. The trucks running around like they just came out of a mudbog dropping chunks on the road are almost a sure thing to get nailed.

Or driving in the rain with a roost of water 20' high also gets attention.

mopar redneck Yeah I've never heard of anyone getting busted for it here in Canby or anywhere for that matter.

LT I drive my FJ40 around the streets of SW and downtown Portland w/o being hassled. I have zero tire coverage in the rear and very little in the front. Cops are more concerned with meth heads and bums than some dude with a built 4x4 driving around.

Motornoggin Not really. Rigs like that are usually trailered around here. Although, I will tell you what you want to hear if you ship that Blazer up here!

Portland Maine?, Portland Or, ?????????????
05-25-2008 11:17 PM
JD EVANS really depends where you are, in the actual city of Portland, cops could care less, but out in the burbs and small towns, gotta have flaps, and tires can't go past fender or flare, coin drop from edge of fender, but most of the cops read it as in the rear of vehicle only
