Your kidding right? That cage is so overkill you'd never have to worry about anything. Most race cars have a lot less
cage than that.

The X is the only thing that gives the B-pillar any strength.

I was kind of in the same boat with my JK. Ended up doing a double B-pillar just to have the X with no bends in it.

Sorry I did t see your response. Hereís a thread where I document and lj/tj tip on Cj/yj. The angle on the doer opening is the same. The tj/lj windshield is leaned back more. Hence why itís fatter at the bottom of the windshield frame. From what Iíve read the tj door ďhoopĒ for the window is about 1/2Ē taller and thatís what refelects with how my Cj doors meet with door surrounds.

RANGERROD Hereís my somewhat finished cage. Still needs seat belt mounts and c pillar needs to be ran to the frame. I like how the a-pillar transition turned out.

I donít have an x at the b pillar as I have kids. And I didnít want something diagonal between b and c pillars. As on the trail itís easier to get kids and gear out. Far from perfect just rolling it around itís certainly heavier than my old one and stiffer.

It doesnít fit perfect to the windshield frame as Iím using Cj/yj frame. But should seal better than the top that was on it. Iím going to document the top install well in my build thread as the few that were on here photobucket killed.

HankScorpi0 Try to bring the B pillar out at far as possible or else your shoulder may be outside of the "cage" only thing I wish I did differently on mine.

No my buddies bender is 6Ē at itís not tight enough. Iíve ran into this several times with this die. But Iím doing what I discussed up above. Iíll gusset the shit out of it. Iíll post up pictures of the finished product.

gt1guy Can you get your hands on a 5.5"radius die set? Makes a big difference and is as tight as you want to go with 1.75"

Not at all. Weld it strong add a gusset/handle. It will do the job.

Beat95YJ Mine had radiused bends. I had a supertop on it and iirc I didnít use the plastic surrounds. I donít remember notching the window surrounds if I used them.

Just starting to think about this for the LJ. I wish Poly or Goatbuilt offered a cage kit.

RANGERROD Bump! Getting ready to do lj length cage. Iím concerned with trying to get the tj door surrounds to fit with a bend at the A pillar even if I notch the clamp. Iíve got a 1.75 x 7.5Ē radius die.

Or do I just notch it like a lot of the tj cages? @Beat95YJ really like you cage poly built what do you think? Also

Yeah I had mine rear facing for quite a while. Everyone who road back there loved it. In the stock yj cage there is a bung that can be tapped to mount the belts to the main hoop. But as far as mounting just drill new holes and plate the underside so nothing could pull through and it's got some where solid to bolt down too.

jcdj1996 Has anyone tried mounting the stock back seat facing rearwards (like an old rumble-seat), so they can triangulate the B-pillar area and do a fastback style cage? Then the rear passengers could enter through the tailgate and have the main hoop above them for protection.

MACSDAD I'm looking for someone to draw a basic LJ cage with 6 points tied in with seat brackets. With so many on these pages it makes it hard to decide which is safe and which ones just look cool. I'm looking for function not form! Any help out there? I have a shop that will bend and weld but they have never done a wrangler just Cherokee's. Help!
