Finally got the board with a doe and buck combo using a CVA muzzleloader with 245gr powerbelts pushed by 100gr of white hots behind it.

This Saturday they came into the food plot and I shot the doe at 8:45 and the buck 10 minutes later. Shot them both at about 65 yards.

The doe came in and didn't seem like she was being pushed at all so I put one in her heart and she ran maybe 40 yrds. The buck came in 10 minutes later and stopped right where I shot her and I put one right in front of his shoulder cutting a lung in half and smashing the opposite shoulder. he went about 40 yards as well.

I was going to give them 30 minutes but decided to come down early and as I was coming back into the plot from dealing with those two I had another deer standing right where I had shot them, but could see it due to the weeds. I was about 10 feet away (fully not expecting to see anymore deer) when it blew and ran off. If I had just stayed put I would have had a hat trick.

Oh well I'm happy with these two and as you can see he's got a funky rack on him.

First pic looks like he's covering his face, maybe hiding a smile or plugging his nose.

Second pic reminds me if the guy from "scary movie" that serves the mashed potatoes with his "strong hand"

Finally got the monkey off my back with a little doe last week. First deer on my own property, that we bought this spring.

Now to sit the rest of the season with my bow and wait on one of the big boys I got on camera.

pwerrec that's a pretty cool one.

1967cj5 Congrats that a very nice buck!

Im still getting use to my new bow. So I decided to get a little trigger time in the field instead of practicing on the range at home.

Blunt, judo or broadhead? I finally started flinging cheap broadheads (atoms) at the local ground squirrels. The blunts and judos start to fall flat at about 40-50 yards and I've had a few runners.

Typically once I shoot a broadhead at a deer i'll replace the blades since they get dull. I keep one slightly dull broadhead in my quiver for the tree rats or if a deer needs a follow up shot.

My son Nick with a buck and doe form last weekend. Buck was a 9 point that was following a doe 80 yards from the stand. The Doe was being followed by a buck and was 230 yards out. Dropped both where they stood, 6.5CM with Berger 135g classic hunters. This was with handloads he did himself.

My ol lady filled her muzzleloader tag but I don't know how to post pics. Nobody in the California Deer Hunting thread has offered to post them for me yet.

Haven't been able to connect this year, been working hard at it...but I pulled this off one of my cams on the mountain I cut both tags on last year. Perhaps there's a connection eh?

Got this guy on saturday with my 6.8spc Suppressed SBR AR. He was moving though tall field grass and i only saw his body and the right side of his antlers.

The funny thing is i hunted everyday last week and almost every morning and every afternoon from Saturday to Saturday. I saw a million does, a dozen foxes and couple gobblers. But i never saw a buck the whole time until saturday morning. So i shot this guy and then a 9 pointer walked right in front of me 15 mins later. Then another younger 8 pointer ten minutes later. But in that county i was in you cant shoot two bucks back to back, you have to get a doe in there and i had not seen a single doe that morning.

So i let them walk. Its ok though, i know where they are now and ill be back this month to get one of them.

I took ~2 weeks off to hunt with my dad and brother. Good times!

Saw a TON of doe, and finally a few bucks chasing them near the middle of last week.

This guy came out chasing a doe, and an even bigger buck ran through after I pulled the trigger and I didn't have time for a shot. Figures
