Port St Lucie

I'm going to be down in Port St Lucie after Christmas and was wondering if there are any recommendations on ranges or shops to check out (or any stuff in general). I'd like to shoot some guns that we can't get up here and maybe pick up some gear (nothing ITAR).

Haven't been here but it says they rent class III and machine guns for their range, rates are very reasonable.

I called them up, they seem pretty decent. Class 3 are $25 per gun plus ammo and range rental time. I think they said the non class 3 stuff is $10 per gun as well.

Ive been to this place and it has a decent setup. Isnít too far from PSL. Rentals have a lot of options including .50 cal and machine gun.

Okeechobee has everything skeet, trap, long range, rentals, knowledgable staff, Lotus is also a quality place but if i`m thinking correct they only have the indoor range in Jensen Beach, nothing outdoors

I second the recommendation for Okeechobee Shooting Sports, Lotus is super nice for an indoor range but it's limited. I live by Lotus and drive the 45min or so to OSS, especially like the steel galleries for pistol and rimfire.

I get to shoot lots on my own at home, I'm mainly just looking to shoot a few things that are banned up here. I'll be down with my family so I'm not looking for an all day thing, just an hour or two to try some guns out (I mainly just want to try out an AK and see what all the hypes about, maybe supressed and some shorter barrel pistols).

Any recommendations for family stuff to do in the area (kids are 2 and 6)

Port Saint Lucie proper doesn't have much for a downtown etc. Here are some kid friendly things I can think of quickly. Based on your response, Lotus might be the best bet. I am fairly sure they rent lots of cool stuff. The range is very nice, clean computerized and no smoke.

Near Fort Pierce:
Navy Seal museum in Fort Pierce (15min N of PSL) might be boring for kids but there's boats and helicopters to see
St. Lucie County Aquarium in Fort Pierce
St Lucie County Regional History Center (next door to the aquarium)

South of PSL:
Children's Museum of the Treasure Coast, Northeast Indian River Drive, Jensen Beach, FL
House Of Refuge Museum, Southeast Macarthur Boulevard, Stuart, FL -nice walk through, good for a partial day trip
Bathtub Reef Beach, Southeast Macarthur Boulevard, Stuart, FL -down the street from the house of refuge, check to see if it is open, the hurricane damaged the area
Florida Oceanographic Coastal Center - Kids can pet stingrays
Wander around downtown Stuart, look at the shops and little museum and river walk
Eat tacos at The Taco Shack in Stuart
Treasure Coast Sailing Adventures -Kid Friendly sailing tour

Venturing farther South (by like 45min)
Florida Power and Light Manatee Lagoon - Manatee Lagoon | An FPL Eco-Discovery Center

The beaches on Hutchinson Island near the power plant are usually quiet and nice. Around Stuart, the water has been iffy because of all the rain / hurricanes etc...

Drove by Bathtub beach last night - closed.

Across the street from the marine life center is a must see if the kids like cars.

The Elliot Museum https://elliottmuseum.org/ looks great now that it has been redone. Honestly, I didn't realize how nice it was until I drove by last night.Used to look dumpy, now it's like 4 floors of old cars and stuff.
