Med kit.

I thought I would post this here. Maybe chit chat would be better. I am in the market for a good first aid/medical kit. I had one before that I bought from @usmcdoc14. It was great, but sadly got stolen from my vehicle. I have pm'd him about a replacement but he doesn't reply to PM's I guess.

So what is PBB recommendation for a decent vehicle kit. This will be for camping, off roading, emergency response. I would like a compact size( less than say 10" sq) and under $150.

I looked online for some and they all seemed too expensive so I pieced mine together from various stuff I've scrounged or bought piecemeal.

When I started helping out with my daughter's lacrosse team I found out we needed a first aid kit (league rule). I was a EMT prior to joining the Army, and served as a CLS (combat life saver) while in the Army so I took on the role of team medic. After figuring out the most likely injuries I would encounter, I went to a couple on-line medical supply places and ordered supplies and a bag. Most things came in bulk so I have only had to restock a couple things over three years. My initial cost was maybe $75

My bag is similar to this one. The contents of mine are geared towards sport related injuries

This was one of the web-stores I used, I can't find the other

I put one together from www.MyMedic.com for our club all in a nice nanuk 904 (pelican type) for $82 bucks +shipping. I can still get them for that price is anyone wants one.

I bought their full Boat Kit on sale for $162 but has a bunch of stuff that I don't think is needed for most wheelers.

If you can't save their life with a tourniquet, you can't save their life

so 2 decent TQ's and a couple pink bunny band-aides, maybe a lollipop and some midol?

Send a message via Yahoo to The War Wagon
Lightbulb

I went with an Adventure Medical Kit - their Marine 250 model.

Seeing as how wheeling has been KNOWN to occasionally involve, mud, water, and other liquid substances, I think this a good way to go. Designed for a "crew of 6" (for reference), here's a couple of interior snapshots.

Stores easily in MY console... but it is a '92 Ramcharger.

So in looking at these kits, some are definitely geared more towards major wounds you might get like a gunshot (celox, chest seal, etc.) how critical do you guys think these are for a kit that will ride in car, buggy, etc.

I kept in the simple stuff like the clotting powders and bandages as they are easy-ish to use.

I left out the tourniquets, advanced airway, etc as they are more complicated and most people don't know how to use them.

For our club events we should be able to transport someone to medical services pretty quickly.

If your wheeling in the boonies and pretty far from medical services I would consider more options. I'm not a first aid expert and it's just my thoughts.
