I now shoot a Q5 Match as my primary competiton handgun, and carry a PPS in an appendix holster every single day. The PPS is the best singlestack 9mm subcompact handgun on the market to actually shoot at speed or fight with.

For shits and grins I shot one in a USPSA match in Limited a few months back. (You can can’t shoot concealed from appendix position in Production.) I won this stage in Limited becasue I ran fricking fast, and had the best fastest hits on the two 25yd partial targets - knowing you have a teeny gun sure means you’re willing to take the time to get those hits:

You cannot shoot the Shield this fast despite its superior trigger, it just doesn’t respond to a good agressive grip at speed like a fullsize gun. The PPS does. And the Kahr? I loved that gun until I attempted to shoot it in a match. It was sold the next day.

The PPS is the only baby 9mm that fights just like its fullsized varation. The Shield and the G43 come closest, but aren’t quite there.
Off topic, what do you think of q5 vs canik sfx? For a spade for soade and amateur vs comp?

On topic, I EDC the bersa thunder as it is 1. Cheap, 2 fits, 3 just dependable and durable for what i go through. Ymmv

I like the Q more. You can tell it costs more. Better fit, better finish, higher quality controls, marginally better trigger.

That said, if you aren’t going to put 10k+ a year through a competition gun and practice with it then you’d be an idiot not to buy the Canik. Even then, it does damn well as a comp gun.

They’re both solid. But I do prefer walthers.
