Any of youse got one of these?

https://www.ruger.com/products/ameri...ets/16976.html

I'm almost sold on one of these rifles in the 7,62x39 chambering, however I don't have one available to inspect. What I want to see specifically is the extractor on the bolt. Reason being is that I acquired a Mossberg MVP in .308 and had the extractor break. It is the weakest piece of shit that I've ever seen used for an extraction system for a rifle. I want to make sure that the Ruger's is more durable and conventional.

Reason being is in the pictures below. From left to right: AK, AR, Mosin and Mossberg MVP.

The one on the right is what happens when a case from S.A. ball sticks in the chamber of a .308 MVP and you pull harder than you normally would otherwise:

I addressed the chamber by making sure there are no burrs, etc. and even polished it. S.A. ball is all that sticks making most of my ammo useless in it. I'm 6'-0" and 195 lbs and not the strongest sumbitch to walk the earth. The extractor is MIM and it's too tiny for me to reproduce with my Bridgeport and heat treat properly. Mossberg sells them for $15, but that doesn't make up for it being a complete piece of unreliable shit. I don't want to get into the same situation with the Ruger rifle.

I figured maybe one of you fawkers might know someone that has one or have access to one at a local shop and could get a few pictures of the extractor from the side and bolt face. I would also value your opinion regarding the durability of the extraction system in the 7,62x39 chambered rifle.

If you think it's close to the same as the 7,62x39, that'd be cool! I've been able to find pics of about everything else, but not these.

Ugh... I have the MVP in 5.56. The whole bolt assembly is a clusterfuck. I broke a brand new extractor (looked like it was made of pot metal) & couldn't get another one from Mossberg.

Finally got a machined steel part from some guy on the Mossberg web forum.

The big selling point on the MVP for me was using AR magazines.

Ruger is mighty proud of their x39 magazines but I would guess a bolt action might be OK with aftermarket mags. You probably aren't gonna buy 20 mags for a bolt gun anyway.

Thanks for the pics, boss! That looks exactly like the MVP extractor setup. Looks like I'll be looking for something else. Dammit! You saved me $420.00 so I appreciate it!

I was willing to pay a little more for their mags just to have a detachable. I got the MVP because it takes the M-14 mags that I already have a bunch of. The extractor is a big disappointment and I'm selling it as a result.

Sure, ammo capacity is limited to 5+1, but have you considered the CZ 527? It uses a Mauser claw extractor that could rip most any case out of its chamber. I don’t know CZ current production status on the 527, but I own CZ rifles and they are quality.

They're a little more than what I want to spend. My primary requisite is that the barrel is threaded for a silencer. I sold a sm. ring Mauser that was converted by Century last year. It would do about 1" to 1.5" groups at 100 on a good day. I had it threaded for a can and then I redid the trigger and put on a tactical bolt knob. I KNEW that I should have kept it...of everything I have, I shot it the most.

I'll look into having another one built after the house is paid off. Whoever dreamed up that extractor system, needs their fukn balls cut off so the rest of the gene pool isn't contaminated.

ETA: Looks like I'll reconsider the CZ...https://www.gunbroker.com/item/813206407

Have you considered the CMMG Mutant, or the PSA version of it? It is an AR-15 with a lower receiver that is made to take AK Magazine.

I already have a 20" AR and a few AK's in x39 that take the can. I'm just missing my bolt gun and was going to replace it with the Ruger. Looks like I gotta keep saving for the CZ.

Well, I found one well under what everyone else is asking for them: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/815031231

Thanks again for helping me avoid the inevitable disappointment that would have been the Ruger American!
