Calif Ammo Ban?

As many of you may know that in the following days July 1 will be upon us. Starting that day in Calif, a background check will have to be made when you purchase ammunition. 1 dollar for the check and you get either an Okey Dokey or nope. Say you get the go ahead and purchase some .22 cuz you want to go out and plink for the day and punch a bunch of holes in some coke cans. You have a 22 registered in your name, so no problemo. At the same time you think, hey I'm gonna grab a couple boxes of say 12ga cuz you want to put a bunch of holes the can all at once or you have some clay pigeons--whatever. If you do not have a 12ga shotgun registered in your name or household, you will be visited (who knows when) by the local PD to inquire or search (who knows). Got this info out of todays local newspaper. Sounds like a precurser to confiscation to me. So am I seeing this on the dark side? What happened to shall not be infringed? I see a shit storm in the possible future in and out of the courts

Wow that seems like such a hassle.

So California wants to know firearm information (make, model, caliber, and serial number among others probably) and other owner information?

Sure, Californians can buy all the pallets of ammo they desire and see how long it takes someone to show up on their doorstep.

it is great that Californians voted away their gun rights with this ammo deal.

Sooo, which news article is lying? Being Calif I tend to not believe what you posted when Newsome was quoted as saying that this Ammo legislation will lead them to unregistered arms

Not specifically, you can purchase without them asking that info because the background check goes directly to the DOJ where everything else is stored, but then there is the comment from the Gov. I'm sure they wouldn't mind you buying "pallets" of ammo if they're going to possibly take it from you. After all there is a real paper trail now.

I only see where is says that you have to have at least one firearm or lower registered to pass the eligibility check.

I’m not talking about ammo dealers at the point of sale. As I understood the article, the State of a California wants gun owners to register their firearms with the state in the DOJ’s Automated Firearms System (AFS). Then their background check cross-checks that info with the ammunition information at the point of sale.

Everything is not black and white with the .Gov. Need to read between the lines and think like somebody that has been wanting to take your guns away for decades now. We're about to be checkmated

I got a flier at Big 5 regarding the new law (not on work computer, I'll post it later)

It says if you purchased a firearm in CA or "registered" any guns from out of state on or after Jan 1st, 2014, you will be in the AFS

It doesn't say anything about firearms owned prior to Jan 1st 2014

What guns?
If one is not in the AFS system, all one has to do is go buy a new gun right now then you're set to buy ammo!

Everyone here saying this is the end of guns, did you hear about a thing called heroin. Explain to me when did the gov make anything go away? More expensive sure but not one damn thing they outlaw or restrict will ever go away.

Just found this tidbit:

.......... An emergency order by CA DOJ requiring CA residents to have a CA REAL ID to make ammunition purchases after July 1, 2019. Without the new CA REAL ID, all those with valid CA drivers licenses that feature Federal Limits Apply in the upper right hand corner will NO LONGER be able to use that as a valid form on ID for buying firearms or ammunition. For the latest current info, visit the official website of the CA DOJ.

Real ID is not mandatory in Cali. until 2020

I found this...

Notice of Proposed Emergency Action (June 10, 2019)
https://d3n8a8pro7vhmx.cloudfront.ne...pdf?1560209779

I skimmed over it. I’m no interpreter of legalese, but I couldn’t find a “requirement” for the RealID. If I understand correctly, you can use a valid CDL and another form of ID (passport). If you have one of the drivers license issued to “non-residents” then you are SOL

And it’s only a proposal at this time

Might be a good time to get into reloading for the rounds you use most.

so if my address on my ID doesn't match, or is an out of state ID, can I still buy ammo just with the enhanced $20 fee and is it then every time full charge

talked to some folks in CA the other day "this is a relatively minor thing"

i'll do more work on them later Even minor human rights violations should be shunned and shattered. will of the people or not, where is the damn ACLU/SPLC/N-FuckingRA/StateAG
