Be careful camping right there next to buck island lake. Some retard ran my tent over right where the guy in the blue jacket is standing. Ruined most of my stuff and told me that I shouldn't camp on the trail. I cannot wait to get back to Buck Island Lake and swim.

Fixed it for ya! If you run over a tent you have to be blind or retarded or drunk or all of the above.

That is why I used to not pack on the trail.

Hey, one other question for you guys. Is it typically faster to go all the way through the trail to Tahoe or to Rubicon Springs and then turn around and head back to Loon? We are going to be short on time, have to be back home on Sunday evening.

I would say that depends on two things; how capable you are, and if you have to go back to Loon to get a tow vehicle. If you're very capable and have left a tow vehicle at Loon, I think it's way faster to turn around at the Springs and come back.

Going out to Tahoe is definitely way easier though, and the trail distance is shorter. So if you're limping along broken and don't have a tow rig at Loon, Tahoe will be faster.

What adds to the time is the 2 1/2 hour drive on the road to get back to Loon for trailer/tow rig.

^ In addition.... Is the Tahoe side passable yet? I haven't come across any reports of the snow/wetness on that part of the trail.

Not 100 percent sure on that. I'm seeing mixed reports. Plus it looks like there is a chance of snow on Friday night.

Can anyone confirm wether or not they know of someone making it all the way through? Someone earlier in the thread said that they thought Maniac was going all the way through.

He wasnt going all the way through but he is at the Springs right now. Im sure he would be up for a trip up cadi hill though....

Two pirates came through last Friday night from Tahoe side. They passed us at big sluice. I'm sure it's still pretty wet with a few snow drifts up top

The trail is passable on the tahoe side...a few drifts and lots of water moving. I'm guessing within a week or so it will dry out, even with the rain expected this weekend. I don't think it'll snow, and if it does it won't accumulate.

Cracks me up that EVERY memorial Day weekend sees a little weather, even when it's been nice for months!

storm looks like it will be wet any snow will melt fast at the forecast temperatures. Be careful as the rain and snow melt can raise water levels fast this time of year

i went from tahoe side into buck island and back on the 24th while it was dumping snow and it was totally passable just make sure your whinch is working if your on anything smaller than 35s

Came out the Tahoe side on memorial day, water was semi deep. No problem as far as pass ability. My mother in laws jk is open open on 36's and had no trouble.

Sounds like the trail is passable all the way through. There are three jeeps in our group and we have one guy on a cj 5 with open diffs and 33" tires. Is it going to be possible to tow him over rough spots? The rest of the jeeps are locked and on 35" or larger tires.

i was in there this weekend and my thermometer on my phone said it was 76 saturday afternoon at buck. It was beautiful all weekend.
