This first in a series of warm storms came in as snow but quickly turned to rain yesterday morning...about a half inch of melted snow/rain on the trail now.

All three storms in the next few days will theoretically be rain below 7000' or so, and plenty of it.

I would encourage folks to stay off the trail until it dries out or gets some snow cover, there will be lots of water moving!

Bumped for the last storm...six inches of snow at Loon and a bit less than a foot at Spider. Very cold, and icy where the water runs (ran). Walker is a sled run!

Nice, but no plane, unless you can figure out how to check my rig. Maybe I can carry it on?

Went up today, weather was awesome, snow about a foot deep, but very packed and traction was AWESOME. A couple of pics:

Look at the first page, they're pretty up to date. Small storm today, probably hasn't dropped more than an inch or two since it was updated.

Which trailhead, how many rigs?

That should be a perfect day...lots of new snow, weekend so no SMUD folks for you to bother, nice weather.

With that many rigs I woudl NOT park in the Chalet lot, folks who rent it have the right to call and have you towed and like I said, that's a fair number of rigs on a holiday weekend, someone's probably gonna be there.

I would park by the side of the road at the plowline and extend your line back up into the SMUD powerhouse road. I've done this successfully for years during the snow weason, just don't block the road!

Have fun.

Took a little trip up on Friday morning. Spent a couple of hours at the plow line at Loon. No go there. Five to six foot wall upon our arrival. Managed to get over the berm but snow has zero base, all powder with no moisture. Worked at it for a while then decided to give up the ghost.

Took a run over to the plow line at Wentworth. Same conditions here. Helped out Robert (Thanks for the soup and breakfast) and worked at it for a while....same results. Spent the night at plow line then headed to plow line for Heartless. Snow cat had been over the top but even with that the conditions were much the same. Made it over the berm but once in the snow cat tracks we just sunk in.

Headed for home Saturday afternoon. We had fun none the less. Ice House road is plowed as usual but seems the sanding has been less than normal. Ice house is a skating rink so if you go up be careful.

Think I will wait for a little warm weather and a re freeze, maybe a little rain before I give it another shot. We need some base!

Heres a little video shot from my new Contour. Nothing great but maybe give some folks an idea of what the conditions are.

That kind of looks like where you were when I got there. Did the cat ever get there?

Here a couple of pics from Friday.

The Tucker showed up shortly before dark and evidently tried but was unable to access all the way to Wentworth, though we didn't hear many details.

Nah, out with 12 and in with 13, close this one and start a new thread.
Here's to a new year of turning the tides on the anti acess groups and everyone on the same side getting along working with each other and not against each other

Nope, He is a Saint Bernard, German Shepherd, malamute mix. Although I will say you are not the first person to ask about the Leonberger. In fact so many people have mentioned it I had to go look it up and the resemblance is uncanny.

Long story but I was present when he was conceived, I know the mom and dad dogs. Mom was a full saint and dad half shepherd half malamute.
