Wheelers for the wounded- hot update

We are a little late in putting this out there, well maybe a lot late. The informational meeting for drivers wanting to drive for the 2013 event is being held at the California Association of 4 Wheel Drive Clubs headquarters on Saturday January 5th, 2013 at 2:00 pm. Expect the meetiing to last about an hour and a half. If you have driven in the past you may still want to attend because there will be some new information this year. The address for Cal 4wd is:

8120 36th ave
sacramento, Ca
95824

Send Kevin Carey or myself a PM, or post it if you plan on coming. Thanks.

UGET IT 12-04-2012 10:01 AM

Hold on there cowboy. Since I don't know who you are, you had better show up to the meeting in January if you expect to come in September.

Simon my brother, of course you're on the short list list of drivers. This is a classic example of why it is so important that everybody understands that we don't necessarily know who people are simply by their Pirate signature. This is part of the reason for the importance of attending the meeting so we can get to know you.

My buddy Brian Johnston doesn't get on here... he's a great guy and wants to be a driver, and his employer wants to be a sponser. He will be attending the meeting as well. I have his telephone number if Kevin or Dan needs it.

Remember all of you "Drivers" we also need Vets to ride with us. Part of your responsibility it to assist Dan and I with finding candidates for the event. We will discuss this more at the meeting.

Start looking now!

Looking forward to it folks. Just a note as it has been confused in the past Wheelers for the Wounded is not associated with "The Wounded Warrior Project". We are a Grassroots Veteran effort.

Kevin and I want to thank the people who showed up at today's meeting. It is always encouraging to us when folks take time out of their day to get involved with this event. Hats off to all of you.

if you guys still need some volunteers i'm willing to help out where ever needed.

randii 07-16-2013 07:31 AM

IIRC, they generally have an annual meeting, where they do a bunch of introduction and explanation. This often serves as a prerequisitie to participation, so that they can ensure the best possible experience for their wounded wheelers.

If you have expressed interest in the past in participating or want to find out more about what we expect from our drivers then this meeting is for you. The meeting will be held January 7th, 2012 at the Cal 4 Wheel office from 9am to 1pm. The office is located at:

8120 36th Ave.

If you plan on attending please let me know in advance by sending me a PM here on the board. Please remember that unless we get to know you there is very little chance that you will be asked to participate. Thanks,

Dan

Sorry we try to answer and respond to questions and comments as much as we would like. "We have day jobs too". :D We are full for drivers this year and will be pairing up those vets and drivers in the next week.

We do care that you served and appreciate that service more than you know.

Respectfully,
Kevin Carey

thanx for the reply. Cb

I will go out on a slight limb here since you sound passionate about participating.

I am a maintenance foreman at the location for the event. If you truly would like to participate, I will make a volunteer position available for you on my staff. In case you were wondering, the cool kids are not the drivers, but the volunteers that serve behind the scene; they make the wheels turn. We are toilet cleaners, garbage collectors, band roadies, fire wood haulers, parking and camping directors, spill cleaners, chefs, servers, dishwashers, etc.. There are no awards or money offered, but you can come and get the opportunity to observe some unique goodness.

If you think that you can leave all the banned and the censored jive on Ice House Road, I would like to share another side of the program with you. How about it?

PM me your contact number.

You must be talking about me then. Since you believe that you're the only person that I ever speak to, thus I remember everything, perhaps you would like to call me and talk about it rather than taking cheap shots on an internet forum. You have no right to come on here and question my dedication and thankfulness to our nation's servicemen and women. My number is 530-518-2101 and you're welcome to call me anytime that you find yourself acting like an adult. Otherwise, keep your unsolicited comments and opinions to yourself.

Hineyman out!

tallgaier 07-18-2013 06:54 PM

X2 on the Hineyman's post, let's keep the drama out of this event, our servicemen and women deserve better than that.
Looking forward to another fantastic event this year!!

Thats a common confusion...No ones fault. We always clarify and explain that we are a Grass Roots organization and NOT affiliated with The Wounded Warrior Project.

See you ate the event. Look for my Green Jeep JK.:)
