There are state laws that prohibit them from closing it to private property owners, so in a word, no.

Closed at Wentworth Springs. The Intertie (between the kiosk and the trail) is open, but you aren't allowed on the trail past the intersection.

In my view, the honor system works much better than a gate.

Thanks for the update John.

Now *that* is a four letter word.

Because of it...wet storm followed by 80 degree weather is the formula for a big melt. Depth of water on the trail is one of the three criteria that will close the trail.

Yup, sure is, as long as you're on the trail!

You can go as far as the far side of the granite bowl and maybe another 1/4 mile or so. You can't go to Ellis.

Just to clarify for myself and others who might not know. The "intertie" is the point where the trail leading in from the spillway intersects with the trail leading to Wentworth springs CG, right? You also CANNOT drive to the intertie via Wentworth springs CG when the trail is under closure, right?

This is a very clear and correct explanation.

That said, the property owners tend to honor the closures...

Resent them if you must for having the coin to invest in their 'wheeling passion, we wouldn't have the voice and access that we do today without their hard work, some for decades and others still today.

Umm... Mother Nature is ? That's silly.

Go prepared if you go... be informed and be legal, and you'll have no problems with the closure. If you disagree mightily with it, I hope you were at the public meetings and engaged the public process that formalized things. If not, well, the place to start would be at the County's Rubicon Oversight Committee meetings, if you want to make change. Venting here may make you feel better, but it doesn't effect change.

Randii (still trying to save up for property)

Looks like a beautiful day.

Given the snow is melting that fast, I suspect that there will be lots of water on the trail for the next few days, but it will dissipate quickly and the trail will probably open next Friday when the county goes up again.

It has been in the mid to upper 60's around Loon this past week. Snow will melt almost 1' per day on a 70* day. Last friday was straight blizzard with 2'-3' on the ground in places. Crazy what a difference a week makes.
