Cantina For The Con 2017

This weekend the Rubicon Trail Foundation will host the 13th Annual Cantina For The Con to raise money for the Rubicon Trail. While the trail is in good hands and we have no immediate concerns, support of the trail now means more to the users of the Rubicon Trail than ever!

On August 18th, the Rubicon Trail Foundation reached a very important milestone for every visitor to the Rubicon Trail, as we formally opened nearly 300 acres of new camping and new wheeling to the public with land purchased through your support. This is your land! As you can imagine, there is much to be done to make the Rubicon Trail Foundation property the best possible destination it can be for the public. We want user created roads, user created campsites, bathrooms and a full-time caretaker so we can open it every day during the summer. We currently have 22 groups signed up that are willing and eager to create new campsites and build roads to reach destinations are far as can be dreamed. The wheels are turning to make this a reality!

This year at Cantina, we have over $25,000 in donated items for our raffle, fantastic tacos and fun for the kids. Your support this weekend and beyond will help the Rubicon Trail Foundation maintain the responsibilities that we have to the County and the Water Board to ensure we never have another Clean-up and Abatement Order, and provide the Foundation with means to make your land the best it can be for this generation of wheelers and the next.

Thank you for your continued support. Please visit the Rubicon Trail Foundation property pages for information and to see the property calendar which has all the open weekends this season.

They'll be posting some...yes. The difficulty is...we can only post what we have on hand. If something happens and a vendor switches items, it could be problematic if someone complained they bought tix for item 23, but that vendor gives something else onsite in the spillway...maybe even a higher value. So it's just being safe....

I can tell you the value of the raffle when i first started in 2011 was $13,000. So it's pretty much double since then.

Some teasers...

Here's some teaser items that we know will be in the raffle. This year the president (that's me) has been pounding the pavement for a few last minute raffle items to put the icing on the cake. A president's prize package, if you will.

Here's yesterday's addition, a Stihl 180C chainsaw, a great trail/rig size saw:

Prez Package Raffle Item for Today

I know, it's a cot, right?

Wrong, not just any cotÖthis is a pair of Roll-A-Cots. Each will be raffled separately. This is the most comfortable, highest quality cot around. No joke, these come with a money back guarantee from the President of RTF. Thatís right, if you sleep a night in it and donít think this is the best cot youíve ever owned, Iíll buy it back for $100. Making camp sleeping great again!

Can someone post a pic of the Jeep BBQ at the raffle. I probably won't win it, but it would look nice on my patio. Who donated it?

I saw that yesterday but didn't get a picture of it. Pretty cool, even if kind of a novelty item.

I think it was '05 when our shop donated a pit bike to the raffle, and the total that year for raffle prizes was less than $5k. I will tell you though, every year that I went or was involved, the amazing part was the people in attendance! Every year I would see people step up and donate, help out and see the RTF and FOTR grow, along with the support from the vendors and companies that acknowledge the importance of the Rubicon. I still remember that Inchworm gear was the first vendor to set up a pop up

Man, I am so bummed I didn't make it Saturday We got to Sly Park and traffic stopped. There was an accident somewhere ahead, and the last leg from Sly Park to Loon was almost two hours according to google maps because of the gridlock. We ended up doing a U-turn right where it squeezes down to one lane going up the hill.

It would've been my first Cantina since before we left for Texas in '09

I'm still stoked to see that the cantina gets so much support and has become an event that brings so many Wheeler, Clubs and companies together for a great cause.
