Rubicon Trail Announcement (Please Read)

The FOTR, USFS, POR and many other hard working clubs and organizations are asking for your help and voluntary efforts.

As we all know the Rubicon trail is more populated than ever these days, as witnessed by many on the Memorial Day weekend 2004.

We are asking as a United Group that all Wheelers, ATV'ers or anyone camping at Spider Lake to Voluntarly camp at least 30ft. from the lake waterfront. By doing this it will lesson the impact of Human Waste and Garbage that is having adverse affects on the water quality and overall health of the lake and shoreline.

Some will ask why 30ft.? This is the recommended distance that the USFS has advised at this time.

By doing this and educating everyone it will keep the USFS and private property owners from having to set permenent boundries, which is something no one wants.

Please pass this information along to everyone in our sport on or off the trail.

There are many other issues and that surround this voluntary action and those will be annouced soon by FOTR.

We hope everyone can help in this important effort.

Thanks All!

This is a great thing to offer up and do. I'm very pleased with how all of us are coming together to keep our trail alive and well.
On the team, and thanks to Kevin and POR for leading this effort,
Del

Thanks Kevin, our network of friends, fellow wheelers, and folks who want to do it right (and keep doing it) is alive and well. That's great.

Set up the camp site at least 30' from shore correct? I assume we can still plop down some fold up chairs and and umbrella while we enjoy some PB&J's after a nice swim and spend the rest of the day lounging in the sun? Just have to use common sense and keep a trash bag near by.

You are right Josh. PB&J's, huh? I'm in.

We all need to have trash bags near our operation -- whether it be camping, wheeling (hanging from the back), fishing, or just enjoying our PB&J's.

thanks to all,
Del

Our club holds our annual family trip at Spider. Josh and I will make sure we set a good example and respect the 30 foot guideline

Great job Kevin. It was nice seeing you on the last day of class at Ice House. Hope you got something out of it besides lunch. I am in hopes that this post will make a great big difference and inspire people to educate those that don't know.

Thanks,

Dennis/prtsnpcs
