2019 Rubicon Trail Event Calendar

Click Here for a calendar of Rubicon Events

It's that time of year, to prepare for 2019!

If you all could follow some simple rules...it will really help me and most importantly everyone else.

  • Name of group
  • Date: Start to End (ie: 7/10-14)
  • How many rigs...(A guess or range is fine!)
  • Where/direction (ie: Loon to Springs and back or Tahoe to Loon)

PLEASE NOTE!
There are 2 events that the trail is partially closed to the public for certain times and locations.

  • The Jeepers Jamboree is July 24-28.
  • The Jeep Jamboree is August 1 - August 4

For more information about the closure times, please download and read the official document from El Dorado County.

Click Here to read the EDC Jeepers Jamboree Resolution

For any follow up questions on the Jamboree restrictions, email info AT rubicontrailfoundation.org

This helps everyone know if they are facing 100 rigs in a group or not.

Am i missing something? Seems to be a bust between the official calendar and the event page for the Jeep Jamboree.

Calendar shows Aug 1-4 and JJ site says Aug 9-11? Or are they two separate events?

I don't wanna get shanked for wheeling a Bronco on the wrong weekend...

There are 3 "JJ" events, by 2 organizations. Jeepers Jamboree is the oldest, and original event the last weekend in July, often called the "Grand Daddy" or Big Jambo. Jeep Jamboree is a smaller event, the first week in August. It is often referred to as the Baby, or little Jambo. Both of those events are done by Jeeper's Jamboree in Georgetown, and both of the events fall under the parade permit with the County that restricts access from 6am to 10pm. The 3rd event is Jeep Jamboree USA, which is an event part of Mark A. Smith Off-Roading (MASOR). They hold events all over the United States over the whole season. This event has no parade permit, nor will they (EDC has Grand Fathered JJ parade permits) since no more parade permits for events are allowed. The only thing possibly "closed" during this event, is the Springs camping area. Your best bet is to contact the Rubicon Springs, and ask them directly what is open/closed.

Rubicon Springs

Recap:

Jeepers Jamboree - Trail use restricted
Jeep Jamboree - Trail use restricted
Jeep Jamboree USA - Trail use NOT restricted

The big Jamboree differs from the little Jamboree in a few ways.
Mainly the age restrictions & cost. The big one is adult fun and has a minimum age restriction.
The little Jamboree is great for families or just kids in general. They have Camp Rubicon, raffles, and other events just for the kids. It's usually less attendance so camp sites are more readily available.
All the stuff is set up from big Jambo so little Jambo enjoys a bit more relax time.

a small group of buggies from texas are planning on being at the rubicon between two of them jeeper jambo events 7/29-7/31 is that gonna be a bad idea or should we have no issues while we are there?
plan is two days at rubicon then move to fordyce for a few days then hit moonrocks for an afternoon before heading back to texas

Shouldn't be any issue for Monday/Tuesday. There will likely be more activity on the trail with stragglers and JJ folks doing work than a normal Monday, but shouldn't really affect you.

There is another event in planning right now for July 31-Aug 2 mid-week, but if you're to Rubicon Springs by Tuesday, you won't be affected either.

parking on the tahoma side would be less drive time in the tow rig if you're going to fordyce after.

The weekday event is new. It will be Tue-Thursday. It's not my place to announce what it is, I just know it's happening. The trail is not restricted...but I can tell you they will be going Loon to Springs on Tuesday, Wednesday is Springs to Barker Pass, and Thursday is Springs to Loon.

You would leave your trailers at Loon Lake...run the trail to Tahoe and then drive around on the highway (assuming they aren't unlicensed buggies) back to Loon.

You will without question, have traffic on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Since it's the first year, I'm sorry I can't speculate on how much traffic, since I don't know how many vehicles. So be prepared.

i gotcha i think are plan is to wheel the entire trail and then back track to buck island, camp over night then next morning wheel back to the trailer and move on. from the trail maps ive seen it looks like we should just pick the safest easiest parking spot for leaving the trailer and start there

Plenty of weekday parking around the Kiosk at the start of the trail.

The Norcal Jeepers are having our annual Rubicon trip from July 18th through the 21st. We are camping at Wentworth Springs Campground and doing day trips from there. I'm expecting possibly 50 rigs this year. Here is our website. I'm expecting a lot more sign ups as the date gets closer.

8th Annual NorCal Jeepers Rubicon Trip: July 18,- July 21, 2019

__________________________________________________ ____________

Also the Rubicon Ramblers will doing their 36th annual trip, from Sept. 5th through the 8th. It's basically the same scenario. Camping at Wentworth Springs and doing day trips from there. I'm expecting maybe 25 rigs. But the campsite is usually full with guys without rigs.
