Anyone on the Con Mon, Jun27-Wed. Jun29?

Yoe, jefe here.
I'm doing the Con starting Monday, June 27th to Wed. June 29th. Anyone going to be on the trail? I'm driving solo, so I'd like to know if there's anyone else out there. If I can hook up with some folks, that would be good. I don't care which direction, W to E or E to W. I'm not afraid of breaking, I can just be less cautious with a group. I've got CO2, Welder, spare everything, so I'm not a hinderance. Let me know,
as always, jefe

hey jefe, going to run the Scramble this year? we always enjoy ur company and trail perspective. Say, is the fat city bronco still out running trails? My head still hurts even thinking about the face slap from that fake high lift last year on walker hill. (not mine-- lesson learned-- use ur own gear, not a loaner)

Mark,
No, unfortunately, This will be my only ConRun this season. I've been on sabatical from the Philharmonic (just retired from full proffing at CSULB last month) and have to go back to work on July 6th for the summer season at the Hollywood Bowl. Next real jeeping for me will be in Sept. I don't want to run the Con on weekends (I've got lots of parking lots right here), and only have this time available. You want to go?? Monday and Tuesday?
Yes, i remember the faux hi lift slap in the chops last year. Not a pretty sight. But that rock you were beached on was the size of a VW and just wouldn't let go.
Bro John's Fat City Bronco is being reorganized, actually downsized. New frame, narrower track, lighter. I'm not sure why. Still the 426 Ford, C-6, Mog/9" axles. The thing was a monster as was.
regards, as always, jefe

you mean THIS?
Sitting right on front D/L...argh!

Sept is rather open-- our wheeling schedule is packed-- not one free w/e until after Burningman. The Con, Sierra Trek, poker run w/ the Tahoe hi-lo's, Run-a-muck, Pardoes (emigrant trail), etc. We're building our new house and that takes a lot of energy as well... In Sept, some here will be running Dusy and another group is doing the 'Modoc Back Country Discovery Trail' up near Alturas, CA-- 200 miles of washboard!

so, for now i cannot commit...but we'll keep ya in mind.
Be safe and enjoy!

Hey jefe - that's good to hear (so to speak). I was under the impression that you retired from the Philharmonic. Nice to know you'll be back there.

Paul (remembers just how handy your toolshop was on Dave's CJ...)

Nasvik,
Good to be heard. Still upgrading my junk, high, wide, long. Are you available to do the Con Monday and Tuesday? If I don't wheel with someone, I get through the whole trail in one day. Certainly not my objective.
These are still the good old days.
You running that 4 poper with a 60 lb. flywheel?
regards, as always, jefe

Mark B.,
"you mean THIS?

As I recall, that rock took a long time to migrate toward the rear of your rig.
It must be nice to wheel almost every weekend. This year I did more wheeling than my 35 yr. schedule could ever allow. I haven't had weekends since 1968. 3 hardcore trips to the Hammers, Moab, Rubicon, Barrett, Dusy-Ershim, AZ, NM.
My son Matt (C-104) moved to Nevada City and works for Apple in Fulsom and Elk Grove. This is giving more impetus to move up that way, drop all this work crap and do a little jeepin'.
regards, as always, jefe

I'd love to, jefe, but I'm trying to motivate my Jeep back to trail-worthy. Went back to school a couple years ago and this is the first break I've taken. Somewhere along the way I lost time and money.... My goal is to get up on the trail once this year. Maybe twice.

Paul (yeah... still got the 4 banger)

go but we leave for Denver in the AM until tuesday for a family gig. Mostly built cherokees-- look for the 'www.reno4x4.com' banners, etc.

enjoy

Mark,
These Reno XJ dudes, are they going in from the Tahoe side or the Loon side?
Do they have a departure time/place to go in. This sounds like it would be fun.
