I met Dennis for the first time Saturday night. He had already started working on me to attend next years class. If given the opportunity, I will attend in honor and respect for him.

Best wishes to Dennis, his family, friends and all of those who were with him this weekend.

Dennis is a remarkable man in so many ways. He has a charisma that is unmatched by anyone I have personally ever known. Ya just can't so "no" to him because his enthusiasm is extremely contagious. He is blessed to have so many wonderful friends and his friends are blessed to have him.

Cheryl, his wife, told me today that "Dennis loves everything he does in the Rubicon and he dearly loves his friends."

I have a heavy heart, as we all do. When someone is so much bigger than life, it is truly difficult to understand how fragile life really is...

We all LOVE you Dennis!!!!

Here's one from the repeater project.

I remember how blown away Dennis and I were at how fast the building was built. He was in pure amazement of how quickly and willing people were to help with the project. He was bragging that the users of the rubicon came through once and again and in record time. He said that an FOTR email went out on a monday and by the next day there were people lined up to come to do the work that weekend. I remember him commenting on how great it was that people come from different trades and how that really helps when it comes to projects like this one.

I can't think of 1 person that I know that has met Dennis, and doesn't consider him a friend....thats just the kind of person he was....always has a smile, and always willing to lend a hand, or give guidence for those in need. Dennis has tought me a lot of the last 5 or 6 years that I have known him. I hope he is comfortable, and sleeping well

This hits hard. I wish the best for Dennis and his family and can only keep the faith for a complete recovery. He is a fighter and I refuse to believe this will be any different. My prayers are with you Dennis.

Had to add this pic- Saturday night around the campfire at VLLS Dennis Mayer, performed the ceremony of his design, and was made our first official (non-original) member of the Rubicon Rock Heads. (Cheers!)
The respect an love we have for Dennis is unmatched. He has given so much to the trail, mostly by shaping its future by leading and "mentoring" the other users.
I would not be as involved or passionate about our land issues ( I wouldn't be who I am today) if I had not grown to love Dennis as my dear friend (and now Brother.)
That smile could always change your day...
I really have no words to explain how important he is in my life. Dennis we love you.

Just arrived home from the hospital. Dennis is resting peacefully, surrounded by family and friends.

I love you Dennis with all my heart. You have taught me so much, and I am a better person today, because you touched my life.

God's speed, we will pray for you, your family, and all of those who have been touched by you.

So have I. I was in shock when Aaron call to say he was on his way home yesterday and told me what happened. It still seems unreal.

I have had the good fortune to meet Dennis on a number of occasions. I admire the work he has done for the off road community and hope it will be able to continue because he is so passionate about it.

My prays are with him as I am sure are a great many.

God bless you Dennis.

This was a tough call to take today....Dennis is the glue. Nobody can deny Dennis, if he calls on you.....and you accept with a smile...cause that's how he asks....with a smile.

If anyone can pull it off....it's Dennis....so my prayers are with him and family.

Dennis made a comment at the VLLS training this Saturday. He said "This course will change you by the end" He was right, it did. Just hanging out with him by the camp fire, changed me. He is what everyone should strive to be. He is an amazing person, always had a smile, never let anything get him down and provided such encouragement and enlightenment in a subtle but Dennis Mayer way.

I dont know if Dennis truly knows how many lives he has touched, but he is an inspiration

Dennis

You are such an inspiration, that this was such a shock when I checked Pirate today.
You are in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

Get well soon, as we need some of your ugly beans...

The first time I met Dennis he treated me like a friend.

The second time I saw him he treated me like a life long friend.

A rare quality.

I posted this over at TDO, but I felt like I should post it here too.

The last time I saw Dennis in person was at the last FOE clean-up. I was on the roof of a FS garage pulling off roof tiles with Travis when he pulled up and started to talk to Randy. He did not stay long and cut out after a few minutes for Wentworth on a "super secret" mission, so I did not get to say "hi". I remember being really bummed that I did not get a chance to talk to him.

The last time I spoke to him in depth, was on the deck at Robbs with Scott, Randy and a coupla others one night during the Cantina. While we were drinking and bullshitting, my wife Shannon was up in the trailer trying to put the boys to bed. I was worried that she was going to be pissed becuase I was down drinking with the guys while she was dealing with too little boys who were too excited to go to bed, but Dennis WOULD NOT LET ME LEAVE! Earlier in the conversation, I went to take a piss, and since Dennis could not see across the table in the dark, he was talking to an empty seat for a coupla minutes. So after that, he would not let me get up.

I am kicking myself in the ass for not making the alumni dinner this past weekend.

I have not known him for as long as many of you have, but in the past coupla years I have really come to love that old guy.

Kurt (Who is praying for a miracle)
