Thanks for Everything Dennis.

I’ve known Dennis for precisely one year and been in his company maybe six times. But, yet I knew, I knew him and I “felt” he knew me. He could guide me without me even knowing he was guiding, yet offer advice when asked. He had such a soft touch, both physically and in spirit. A teacher, without lectures and tests. It was Dennis’ patience that made things happen.

I thank those who have written, you have allowed me to realize just what Dennis has been to me that I did not consciously realize.

While I don’t believe in any of the mythical stuff, I do hope he has found what he wanted and thought there would be after this life.

Here’s to the Mayer National Forest(s).

He was SOLELY responsible (Barb and John did what Dennis asked them to do ----but Dennis was the driving force ) for making the Ham classes work and getting people to take them, and the repeater. We' will have REAL communication on the trail now.

I think (know) he would love that.
Ok, so I changed some of this...but this is truly a Dennis legacy, as Kate said. Because of Dennis, there will always be help in the Rubicon. With all the hams listed above, there's no way you can be up there and not run into at least one ham. DENNIS, YOU SO ROCK!!!! This one's ALL YOU!

Wow, I'm at a loss for words. I only met Dennis this weekend at VLLS and am very glad I did. Hearing about all that he did and the connections he had made to help save our trails was very inspiring---He was truely a giant.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Dennis was solely responsible for me taking the ham class. It was always on my "to do" list and then he told the story of his father earlier this year at the FOTR anual meeting. The class was already full but he found a way to squeese me in. Thanks Dennis

My Big Brother, Denny

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Denny is my Big Brother and though we have been separated by distance, the love I hold for him shall never pass nor fade. I could never have asked for a more wonderful and compassionate brother and to be able to read the kind words brings so much comfort. God Bless you All.

Kathie,

I did not get to meet you, but met the rest of your family. You all loved him as we did. Your Dad told me you got to talk to Dennis via cell phone, and even though he could not respond, I know he heard you, and we wish you and your family all the strength in the tough times.

Tell your Dad we have something "poetic" planned to remember Dennis. And we will be in touch.

Take care of yourself and each other.

Bebe

To say Dennis was an inspiration is an understatement. I feel very lucky to have known him.

Dennis exemplified determination & grace, all with a big smile. As someone who is also disabled, he taught me to go beyond the limitations of my illness, to think of what I can do, instead of thinking of everything I can't do anymore.

And Dennis accomplished all this by just being himself.

What a tremendous legacy, what a tremendous loss.

My prayers to his family, immediate and extended.

Amy

Bebe,

We are so sorry to hear about Dennis. We had the good fortune of meeting him at the Rubicon Trail workday in Sept, 2007. He was an inspiration to be around and was a gracious companion when you guys took us out for a day on the famous trail. I know that he will truly be missed.

Take care,

Dennis has made everyone's life a little brighter. He truly inspired everyone that had the pleasure to meet him. My sincerest wishes to his family and all that considered themselves his family (which is everyone he has ever met).

The 4x4 community has lost a great soldier and a friend. God's speed.

Katie, Your not the only one who will miss those hugs. It made me laugh when he refered to himself as a "dirty old man," cause I never thought of him that way. He was the guy I had to hug because it would make my day even brighter and make me feel even better, just like his smiles did. You couldn't help but be in a good mood if Dennis was around.

So when's the trail run??? Shannon you nailed it, the trail is our church and we need to do a run in honor of him.

Maybe we should plan something for next summer?

Either way, I would like to be in on that one.

Bebe's notes from Hummer amaze me. We all enjoy the same sport and so even if you met Dennis once or only had contact with him through email/phone call/ pbb you could tell how passionate he was about thing he cared for. The fact that he touched people, who he met once, and they cared enough to send a message speaks worlds of Dennis character.

POR POO 2008!!

I had been working with Dennis for the last month for this small event that The Pirates are putting on this weekend at the Rubicon. It seems like yesterday he and I were discussing plans for the trip, food, trash bags........etc.

Dennis would love nothing more than for people to be picking up trash and helping to preserve the Rubicon. Looks like the weather will be awesome so join us if you can. Look for the EZ-UP's near the Kiosk. Dale and I should be there by 1PM on Friday.

Although he said he could'nt attend because of the cold............I KNOW he'll be there with us for the entire weekend watching with that smile. Better yet he'll be wheeling right along side us all.

We will be sharing some good stories this Sat. night so if you cannot make the cleanup but can get away to Loon for the night please come on by.

We will be enjoying Band-aids & Beer!

KC

I really hate to even ask this question, but what were the causes of Dennis' passing. He was a dearly loved man, but unfortunately I never was able to meet him.

I knew this would come up, I think we should leave this alone for now. I'm going to trust Randy's discretion on this issue as he's been the main contact with the family. If they wanted it out in public view I think it would have been posted.
