Cool. We are going to the swap meet in placerville on sat. Then headed in after that, with a truggy on 40s and my first gen on 37's. Camping as far as we make it then headed out in the am.

subscribed, We are planning a trip for June 10-12 I want to stay up on the trail conditions. Anyone know if loon Lk campground is open yet or when it will open? also, is there any camping still at Buck? It's been a couple years since i was up there and I am hearing about more restrictive rules as far as camping on the trail. Any info appreciated.

The trail may be dry-er at that time, but likely still pretty wet in spots.

Camping - you can camp wherever you like - parking is the issue. You can park along the trail, where there is room and up to one vehicle length off the trail.

Keep in mind that most folks will use the term 25 feet from center line "wherever that is". We don't know yet, but hopefully it will be defined soon.

Got it, I would imagine some double yellow lines will eventually be painted LOL basically they do not want people driving off into the woods to make camps? correct.
Is Rubicon Springs CG still the same? Thanks for the info.

Yep, Rubicon Springs is still the same.

Painted lines would involve a few dead bodies...LOL. Not gonna happen while I'm alive

Got the idea from you. Desmond, and I'm liking it a lot...works very well. I know your new job is playing hell with your wheeling schedule, but I hope to see you on the trail soon!

The rest of the answer: Loon Lake campground (actually known as North Shore) isn't open yet. I spoke to the District Ranger about it a week ago and she said she believed it would open around June 1st if the snow levels are down enough...I believe they will be.

Kevin, Great to hear from you! The Rubicon with 8+ feet of snow is the BEST.
Glad you liked the "MINI SNOW MONSTER". I built it for the snow! Even though It's heavy, with the "LARGE" contact patch @ 1.5 PSIG, it works quite well! . It's has been on a diet - about 200lbs in the last 2 years .
It still works in the rocks with the "smaller" tires for the summer.

I might have some time off during Thanksgiving- Christmas-Newyears for a Rubicon Snow run with Cruzila. Soo let's keep in touch.
Cheers.
Desmond
