A few questions,

Hi all, just had a few questions about the rubicon as I am heading there in august with some friends, i was curious about for one, insurance, I'm from Canada and I usually just throw a temp permit on my jeep when out wheeling, will that suffice out there if I buy a week long permit for the trip? Also another question I had was about camp fires, I heard that u need a permit or something to have camp fires otherwise u may end up with a fine? Is that true? Where can I get a permit if I need? Any info anyone could give for me would be great, thanks,

nick

Insurance...well whatever you need to get on the 'road' is ok. ON the trail...good luck explaining that fender scrape ..lol. Although...it is a county road according to some written bits and pieces...lol
Campfires: No not in August. A permit maybe but only in a certifired campground if that. On the Con...thats dicey we don't want to burn down our forest.
Better safe than sorry but have fun on the trail! and please pack out ALL you pack in !

The vehicle insurance part... whatever is required for you to fulfill legal requirements to have your rig on the road ( Canada & down here ).

As far as fires are concerned... by August, you may be limited to a propane stove only, depending on fire conditions. Hit a Ranger station on your way in, you can get a fire permit (no charge) and fire info there.
( I usually hit the Ranger station on Icehouse road on my way in )

Have a great trip, be safe and PLEASE pack out everything you bring in...

If you plan on using a propane stove for cooking you will need a campfire permit also. It takes about 5 minutes to get one and they are free.

You should check in to an out of state liscense as well.

For a fee, the Department of Parks and Recreation may issue to a nonresident owner a special permit which allows the nonresident to operate an off-highway vehicle that would otherwise be required to be registered.
•These permits expire December 31 in the year of issuance.
•For further information, go to www.ohv.parks.ca.gov.

or directly

This applies to non-highway/street legal vehicles i.e. rock buggies, razors, atv's and motorcycles etc....

If your rig is street legal, a temporary operating permit from Canada and proper vehicle insurance will be fine.
