It's very enlightening to do it by yourself. Been there and have very fond memories of the trip(s) with one rig.

But a small group is SO MUCH FUN too! Best times with a few friends.
And one time when all the friends were just met on the trail that day. Very cool.

Good luck with the fans. Cooling is a good thing on a trail like this.
See you next time 'round.

This is how our Weekend started out, 20 minutes in from Loon. . It went down hill from there.

Yes, tell us more!
With pics of course...

Great looking truck. Guess even heavier driveshafts are in order now, but otherwise a cool looking rig. Especially the new high-tech "CSJ" (Craftsman Super-twist Joint) in the middle of the special 2-piece shaft.

Overloaded a little maybe? Too much "enthusiasm" perhaps? Or just a case of "the rock was harder" instead?

I mean, that's quite the break there.

That held up great, and as you can tell by the pictures it's not totally straight. We drove it all the way through. We had 5 rigs in our group, and 4 of them had issues. One rig broke an axle shaft at the yoke. One rig blew a hub, and broke a shaft, broke a track bar, broke spider gears and had an electric fan stop working.

At one point we were towing that rig into Buck Island with a tow strap. It took us 18 hours to get from Loon, to Buck Island.

This is where the Drive line snapped in half

And we even managed to hit a curb with the trailer wheel and cause a flat on our way home

We broke a driveline in that spot before. Headed there in a few weeks, hope my Ranger holds up.

That shot of the outdoor fab shop (complete with welding zombie?) is calendar worthy. At the very least, it's garage-poster worthy.

Thanks after my 14 year old passed away I needed to do something for him. Hence the penny. We place a lot on the trail...wonderful people on Pirate are placing them all over the world. Have sent out a couple of thousand. Can't wait for the pics to start coming in.

Thanks
Mike
