So after 40 bulbs, 39 tested well. The last one did light up, but buzzed loudly. I left it plugged in for an hour, but still buzzed.

All in all, a good purchase. I hung some up and left them on to see if we have any infant mortality issues.

here is a little comparo for those considering these types of lights

china (frosted lens) on left, green light depot (clear) on the right

china top, GLD bottom

GLD clears on the closest rafter, china frosted on the far rafter:

edit: i like the frosted lens lights better. all things equal, they look to spread the light better, and when looking directly at the lights, the color is much more uniform. the clear lenses give a yellow look to the LEDs from an angle. the light output to the floor looks brighter on the clears, but its more directed.

I have a dead one. And since Sam's switched to Honeywell, not sure what I'll be doing yet. The honeywells have different mounting, so I can't mix/match for the flush mount.

I don't have any more duds except the first one that buzzed. I only have 8 out of the 40 in normal operation though

Make sure you tell them what voltage you need when ordering.

Costco has V2.0 out. They have an outlet on the end opposite of the cord so you can daisy chain them together.

Last night I bought one of the v2.0 Feit LED shop lights at Costco.
(I also have two of the v1.0 Feit LED shop lights from Costco.)

The new units have:
  1. Smaller end caps and therefore more tube exposed
  2. Same slotted screw hole mounting as v1.0 with no OEM option to through-hole mount (this makes surface mounting slightly more of a PITA)
  3. Same light output (3700 lumens) and color temperature (4000K), but the efficiency is down - old units were 38W, new ones are 42W.

New units have a 2-prong outlet for linking up to 4 fixtures.
Is it wise to attach 110VAC steel/plastic light fixtures without any ground to a ribbed steel ceiling? Meh.

The old v1.0 Costco lights creak as they heat/cool - not a big deal, but I haven't witnessed this on the new v2.0 light.

I'm still researching the Chinese import route for illuminating my 32x40x13.5 shop like @rajincajingt.

Any hints for dealing with Alibaba manufacturers?
Were there any hidden surprises when it came to tariffs/duties?

There's a farmer up in MN that sells a pair of Chinese imported T5 double tube (3750 lumens, 30W) for $74 + $10 to ship. End-to-end linkable up to 200W total load - so very easy to install. He has an eBay store: link.

Mfg. of the same lights over in China ($6-8 each):
link

After 5.5% WI taxes, the Costco lights are damn near $32 each.
The advantage with them is Costco's no hassle lifetime return policy.

Beers,

Matt

no taxes or tariffs to speak of, but it was a hassle to communicate and order and get updates. they also tried to pass a $75 increase in shipping AFTER i paid, but after some pushback, they decided to use a different carrier and did not need the extra money.

all in all, $8 shipped each for ~2200 lumens to the house with hardware is a great deal. i have some extra if you want to try them out.

How many extras do you have? I need like 5-6 for my garage. I'm also to cheap to pay $30/ea fixture.

I just got one of these for my pantry, and it's impressive for $16 and its size.
Hyperikon T5 Integrated

I'm seriously considering doing my shop with them, and my attic, and all my closets...

So what's the deal with alibaba? I started an order but it looks like maybe it just was a request to order but I didn't actually make an order? Do they contact me once the review?

RC- if you have extra lights you want to sell let me know

I haven't followed the thread that closely, and I know it's not exactly the right thread....I just don't care enough to post it anywhere else....

as far as Sam's Lights of America (hereby LoA) and Honeywell....I got a Honeywell mounted last night and don't like it as much. 1) I feel it's not quite as bright, the light is a touch more yellow-ish than white like the LoA, 2) there are larger but fewer diodes in a strip and 3) the cord comes out of the top making hard surface-mount difficult to impossible.

Overall I much prefer the LoA to the Honeywells. FWIW.

Yeah, we are using a wholesale site. You send em how many of what kind you want, they approve the cost and then furnish a shipping cost. This is a good time to haggle, as they allow you to offer a total amount not equal to the qty x the posted cost.

It takes a minute, but it's well worth it in my opinion.

Thru June True Value is selling the Feit 74104 at $29.99.
3000 Lumen 4000K 4ft LED Utility Light

This is a single-strip 4' fixture that claims 3000 lumens but only pulls 30W. I picked one up to try. I even used a $5 off $25 coupon from their loyalty program, even though it says not valid on sale items, so my cost was $25.

Obviously not a great deal relative to the Costco pic a few posts up, but much more accessible for many of us, and/or good if you still want good lighting but pull a little less power.

TV's site is weird or I'd link; just go to Truevalue.com and poke around, try searching for Feit LED shop light or Feit LED utility. You may have to input your zip for local pricing.

I've got 200 of these coming from China:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BS1XWIQ

I've put them in my shop and have several buddies that are now using them and love them. Finding things in their shop they've never seen before.

4000 lumens at 34w is no joke!

PM me if you are interested. I can make a smoking deal for a 25 pack. They are about 3 weeks out.
