Fab and differential table; small shop, big dreams

Been tired of building axles on jackstands at shin level for some time now, and finally had some time between big projects to make a table I can do most everything on. This design has been bouncing around in my head for some time now.
The build:
1 1/4" pipe makes up most of the table, 2.5" 1/4" wall square tube to support the table, and act as hitch reciever.
Basic layout:

bendy bendy

Badass!!

I don't see locks on the castors. How are you going to stop it from moving around?

Hitch vice in. I use this thing for everything

Axle stands in. They just set on, and can slide left to right to accommodate any diff offset.

Bazinga!
A couple outriggers quick-pinned in holding 3/4" threaded rod to be run down with my impact where the table needs to stay. Caster locks wouldn't hold well enough I don't think.
And a power strip attached to the table to mitigate the chords laying aboot the shop.

Works awesome though, much better than the old way.

Cheers

Awesome! I'm going out to work on mine. It's a strong hold tools small fab table that I'm going to put on top of 5 drawer lower tool box.

Did you intend for there to be any practical purpose to the point on the bottom half of the legs or was it just a "because I can"?

I mean I guess you could hang a rolled up cord or other stuff on it but you can also shove metal stock in the four spaces of an X-brace.

Also, you're gonna flip that thing or fold over the caster really quick if you don't put an outrigger on the same corner as the vise (BTW, you might want to triangulate that one and use a bigger bolt as well). I'm talking from experience here.

Fawking pimp. Some drawers for the diff setup tools would be sweet if you can keep them safe from the fab debris.

Just being fancy and made a "W" on each side for my name.
I'll tack some hooks to hang chords from when I find a home for whatever equipment I'm going to keep on it. Just trying out a few things.
The vice can go in any of the 4 corners. I've done 2 axle builds, and 2 3rdmember setups on it since I called it good enough. I have the pieces cut out for the other 2 outriggers, but so far so good.

Thanks man. Yeah drawers would be sweet, just lacking time to do anything else to it between axle jobs.
Been good so far.

That’s one awesome table. I love that.

Is the 1/4” too thick enough? The top of mine is now overlaid with 1/2” AR400 (got it for free) and before was 3/8” diamond plate (also got it for free). When I laid the 1/2” over the 3/8” the heavy dents and bows became pretty evident.

Thanks man.
So far, 1/4" seems to be ok. Just what I had laying around. I move around a lot, so moving a 1/2" plus thick table would bring the suck. Primary purpose for this table is to build axles on. So far so good.
Looking online for welding rave tips, they're nice, but spency.

That's a fucking nice axle stand.

I have an old engine stand that I am going to modify into an axle only stand. I picked up a "chain vice" for holding the axle. I will post up pictures when I start the build.

Here's my dumb question, how do you get a 270* bend off of the die?

Thanks! That's an Interesting build idea.
I have a pipe vise like that, i keep it on a stationary bench and use it to hold tube when I cut it down. Very versatile and easy to use.
