King of the Hammers build

Hello

I am looking to build my 2015 RZR XP1000 to run KOH. Iíve been looking to see what people have done or suggestions on my build. I know the cage is important as recently I was a co-driver for 4875 at KOH2019 and we rolled.

Iím going to be upgrading the suspension, arms, axels, cage, seats, and harness. Iím looking to ask what cage I should go with, what tires do I run, can I run LT tires, what rims do I run, what GPS is everyone running, and so on. I have a fabricator who I am working with for the cage but not sure if I should buy a pre notched cage or what level of cage I would need. Do I want to tie in the front bumper? Tie in the back bumper? Carry a spare tire or not?

Let me know your thoughts!

Thank you in advance

Well, I'm definitely no expert but I did race my Yamaha in the UTV race at KOH this year. I ran with 30s and stock arms, and while I had mechanical failure in the Notches/Cougar Buttes, I fixed the car afterwards and ran some of the rock trails. There's no way in hell I would have finished without some serious damage with as low as my car was. My plan for next year is to run at the very least 32s, if not 33s or 35s (unless Dave Cole creates different divisions for UTV's which would be awesome) I have essentially a full tube chassis car, with just stock framerails that have been gusseted/reinforced. We ran LeadNav, which is a killer app but does have some issues (like turning off our IPad randomly or sucking the battery down fast.) I may bite the bullet and get a Lowrance, just because people seem to have the least amount of issues with that. I would focus the majority of my attention on the suspension, the axles, the steering, and with your Polaris the clutching/belts. To be honest, the cheapest way to do this is to buy a car that's already built, you could probably sell yours for pretty close to what you can buy a built BITD/SCORE legal RZR.

yup or even look on some of the facebook utv race pages. My Yamaha might be for sale if I end up getting the right sponsor deal for 2020. We ran Ultra4 KOH and EFI Clash at Crossbar Ranch this year along with 4 Dirt Riot races with just one to go (Dirt Riot Nationals in Colorado Springs in September)

yes sir, i had a race last month in St. Johns AZ and we drove back to Houston through DFW. We'll be heading back out of state in 2 weeks to Colorado Springs for Dirt Riot National Rampage and a shot at the National Championship.

The rule book will tell you what you need to know about the cage requirements and they will be $$ if you are doing custom unless you can find a PE to sign off cheap.
