2018-2019 season

How do we not have a thread yet? I’ve been snowing wheeling since October.

Nothing hardcore. But got out a week and a half ago. Couple feet of snow and ugly conditions. Thick crust with sugar under it. The bias iroks worked really though. Little more grooving and breaking in and they should be pretty solid tires. I was at 2 psi by the end to break trail. Hoping to get out this weekend and maybe finish the loop we were trying and to set some tracks laid down. Wound up with almost no visibility at the end and both options of where the road could have gone looked like a steep downhill both ways. But likely only one was a road so we turned around and backtracked out.

Tried to make the same loop as last time and never made it as far. Add another foot or so on top of the crust and sugar snow and it was a fight. The new to him (my old ones)33” claws sure helped the cj-5. We were all down to under 3 psi. They could barely follow me. Last 3km or so we were all hooked on ropes in a train going forwards and back. It was coordinated chaos. Most of the time 2 of the 3 rigs were stuck with the one getting another unstuck but getting stuck themself. But we made good progress right up until all 3 of us got stuck. After recovering all the rigs we turned and headed home. Wish we had a drone that auto followed to film it. It was pretty cool. We never made it as far as last time but was close. It was raining and snowing up there. Tracks should set in pretty good though. Coming back down the mountain some kids like maybe 16-17 years old went up the mountain. On the plowed section they spun out and slid back down the mountain. Got it turned around and hit the ditch. It was dark when we got to them and Steve (cj5) jumped in. It was to icy to winch them out so I shoveled a rut onto the road and pushed their suv out with their help. Then they promptly slid into Brian’s Mitsubishi and nearly shoved it over the steep bank. No damage to his Jeep as their headlight hit the spare tire. Anyways the 4 kids were really thankful to have had help as it’s really bad cell service up there. They nearly had a really cold night in the mountains.

I went out for the clubs xmas tree run. There was some snow, not enough to be challenging for the "big tired/locked" rigs.

I left early cause folks were getting pissed when they were stuck and I was passing them. And shortly after getting "talked to" by the club president, I blew my steering pump.

Getting it fixed today, and will be going out some more this year. The snow is starting to get epic.

Sounds like a club I wouldn’t be in. Last year a bunch of jk’s were on a run and being slow af so I passed them in the ditch and got a bunch of dirty looks.

Went for a cruise today. Had to chain up to chew up the hill in the 8" of wet PNW snow.

Thanks! More to come soon...as weird as it sounds...swapping the stock HEAVY-ASS hubs to lighter aluminum ones woke the engine up pretty well!

The burb and cc I heard were father and son? Not sure if that’s true but I heard they do well.

Yeah I only saw it take off... boy does it sound good. It was sporting 42” iroks so I assume it would do well. All the roads we were on a stock truck with a decent driver could have navigated.
