The drivetrain is back in, time to figure out the front driveshaft.

I rolled her outside to see what the grey really looked like. I'm digging the color.

The front driveshaft will ride on a carrier bearing to clear the new belly. Even without the belly there it would have needed a carrier bearing. That's a long ways from the front output to the axle.

The driveshaft will just clear the lower at full bump.

I put the tub back on so I could start laying out the front clip. First things first though, that hood is way too wide for the tires and travel.

Time to fire up the bender and see what this front clip is going to look like.

I considered running the shocks inside the main tube, but quickly realized they were going to eat the frame when the axle dropped out. So they're back on the outside of the tube and I'll have to make a notch in the hood for them.

The cage needs a lot of love, but for now I'll settle for tying the A and B pillar into the chassis. I cut the back end of the cage off as it's going to be reworked once the bench seat goes in.

I finally broke down and bought a pipemaster to help out with complicated copes. It works pretty nicely.

No more need to worry about redoing the front body mounts. This should do the trick.

Oh yeah, I reinforced the upper link mounts up front. More than likely the tube and mount would have been fine, but no need to take a chance.

not sure how long it'll take me to get it finished, all new brake/fuel lines, fuel cell, hydraulic steering, radiator/efan, all new electrical, seats, harnesses. Work schedule doesn't look like it'll cooperate, two projects for 6 weeks straight of work in april and may.

Looks like Snowball will be headed back to her owner this week. I've done my part, now it's time for Patrick to add his touches to her.

If anyone needs a truss for an 80 series rear let me know. I have a few in stock.
