Loadstars went both ways in the 70's. You could get some with the fiberglass flip frontends and some with the old school butterfly hoods. I personally like the looks of the butterfly hoods but the flip style frontends are so much easier to do engine work on.

that crewcab 4600 is a great deal even with blown motor. the crews are damn hard to find and its already got a nice bed and the clutch pedal is there. well, well worth the effort to put a mechanical 466/good manual trans into it. can find the motor for a grand at most wreckers now, while theres still some left in the country. the dayton wheels are obnoxious but whole fleets of hub pilot'd school busses are being dismantled right now and only exporters seem to be buying the axles. the IH buses also have the nice round nose for that rig, and a sweet split intercooler/radiator side by side setup. theres a dozen of em at my favorite yard.

5 grand and that'd be a haul all to envy. someone buy it! 5 yrs or so when my dodge folds in half, thats my next work mule. service body, autocrane, generator, sideboxes. mmm

Then you would be pissed at me..Last minth i gave away a 12 ft fiberglass northwest bodies utility/crane setup..Just needed some light glass work on the right front door.Came off an mdt so it had the big wheel wells..

Just had no place to store it anymore(was stored in a parking lot for free)

Sucks as now i have a potential 50K a year contract that i need it for

I just ran across one of these last week on a big multi township barn fire scene. Found out the truck used to be owned by my department, until the mid 90's and then was sold to another area department. Anyhow, history aside it was one of the coolest cabs I've ever seen! I was going to yet to figure out what out was to post some pics on this thread, but you beat me to it.

Dodge used the same cab on the Big Horn in the early-mid 70s

The Big Horn is still my favorite OTR truck of all time

Guy wanted a pretty penny for this thing but its pretty effin sweet! Shame the auction ended a while back.

From the Ad: Engine: Hercules RCX inline 6, flathead gas, 529 cubic inches, 112 horsepower at 2300 rpm, 400 ft/lb torque at 1000 rpm

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1941-...item2a1bdad245

I even saved and hosted these pictures so that this thing will stick around in this thread. Too much awesome.

Buddy and I got some looks yesterday on the Interstate with this interesting load. Got plenty of thumbs up sitting at the stop lights in Fredericksburg.
