Get behind an ecoboost when it's on an entrance ramp and the romp on the throttle, they smoke like an old diesel too!

Couldn't believe it following my brother one day and he romped on the throttle and his new ecoboost was rolling coal far worse than my deleted duramax on my 150hp tune.

hmm, people do that and wonder why they need spark plugs all the damn time.

i can see it from fords perspective, keep it rich to avoid warranty repair from melted motors leaning out but damn

I mean, how much boost does a stock ecoboost motor make?

I just can't believe that with modern engine controls and MAF sensors that you need to run it pig rich to keep it from melting pistons.

Subarus and Volvos and shit certainly don't.

The sub requires premium fuel though, not sure about Vovo. Ecoboost does it on regular unleaded

I believe it maxes out at 15 PSI when the wastegate opens

Typical boost is 12 and spikes upto 18

Anything with a turbo is going to run rich under load, they have to.

I've never noticed my 2015 WRX smoke, but it sure soots the tailpipes in a hurry.

it will run fine on regular 87, but it's also only making 6 lbs of boost.

I just can't believe that with all of the opacity shit they make diesels jump through that the EPA would let Ford put that out on the road.

I guess Ford found the regulatory loophole for the decade.

Doubt it. My bone stock 14' does that or worse. Right after I got it some friends and I took a trip. Jumped on it hard in front of him and I get a panicked phone call saying my truck is all kinds of fucked. Pouring black smoke lol. Meh. It goes like a scalded cat and gets me 18 mpg. 6 more than my tundra ever got. Zero fucks.

It sounds to me like it starts cutting out due to excessive fuel. My turbo motor sounded the same while I was learning how to tune it.

Bumping this up

Over the winter, my mileage was horrible...... 13.7-14.2

Within the past 2-3 weeks, its been 16-16.7

Winter fuel blend?

The truck did pretty decent in the snow, not bad and not great

Mine drops in the winter as well, I think partly due to winter blend fuel and partly due to the fact it has a remote start.

In the snow I feel that the traction control works a little to good and can mask bad road conditions since you never really feel it sliding around much until it's to late, I picked my truck up from the body shop today after one of those times

True,

I did forget about how much I use my trucks remote start

I do like having the ability to engage the rear locker in 2WD

That 13 to 14 mpg is my good summer mileage on mine. In winter I average around 10 mpg. It does idle about an hour a day, so I'm sure that doesn't help. I also like to drive fast and my entire commute is stop and go driving. But I only drive 14 miles a day, so I only have around 19,000 miles on my 2012 truck.

As far as snow and ice goes, I'm not a huge fan of the traction control. I have found though, in 4WD, the traction control seems to be minimal, which makes driving easier and more enjoyable.

This is what I was thinking. I have searching for air to air leaks, shy would you want to create a leak. I know very little about boosted gassers and even less about the ecoboost, but creating an ai r to air leak seems like a bad idea...

My 2012 had low miles also, right at 23,000 now

I am going to pull the cap off and have bed sprayed with LineX in April

I also need to find and mount a roof rack on the ARE cap

What mods do these trucks respond well to.......CAI, larger bore throttle body, exhaust, tuning?

Stock throttle body bore is 62 MM, I think BBK makes 2-3 larger sized bore TB

These trucks respond well to tuning. I wouldn't even bother doing a CAI or exhaust unless used with a tune.

Stock tires are 275/55/20, right?

I am only running 275/65/20 (34.1x10.8/20), and have a lot of room left

275/55/20 = 31.9x10.8/20
275/65/20 = 34.1x10.8/20
315/70/17 = 34.4x12.4/17

Raptor Wheels:
17" x 8.5"
6 lug x 135mm
34mm offset(6.08 back space)

What are the specs on my 20" factory wheels? Is this info accurate:

20" x 8.5"
+44mm offset (6.2 inch backspacing)

I am hoping to just buy the wheels, because I think that BFG AT KO tires are junk
