To say nothing of the fact the suggestion of an additional vehicle obligates someone to drive it. It's creating an additional job without creating more hands to do it.

After reading how the 450 is used, I agree, my idea was dumb. Not because it adds a driver but because it adds a MDT that can't do what they do with the 450.

I'm on the lookout for a basket case 6.4 F350 SRW. Pick it up cheap, unload my "bullet proofed" 6.0 F250 and swap a 5.9 in the 6.4. These guys have the swap dialed - https://www.dieselconversion.com/. I love the 08-10 trucks, but it seems like you cant make a 6.4 right....

Going to get a 2016 450.

The 2008 is going to get a 2000 7.3/zf-6 swap.

Be sure and get a T444E computer (or at least the maps from one loaded into a tuner box) so that it'll live with the kind of duty cycle you intend to put it through.

Are you parting out your pos truck? Will the electronics (gauges, etc) work?

Any reason you stay with the 450 pickup over a cab and chassis besides for the day to day tasks so it doesn't stick out as much?

The 16 is being delivered on Thursday.

The 2008 has the motor stripped down and is in pieces. The dealer is going to throw the parts on a pallet and wrap it. We are going to get the truck back and part out what is good on the engine. Has a good top end, turbos, k16, injectors, heads, short block core and the 5r110w. Along with whatever bits and pieces left over, starter, etc.

The donor truck is a 2000 F350 7.3/zf6 that is 100% complete. The motor has around 230k on it and runs like a top. Would like to mate the zf6 to the 450 tcase so I don't have to mess with driveshafts and keep the electric shift unit.

THIS WILL TURN INTO A BUILD THREAD.

After the F700 I thought I'd have it easy for a while...yeah right!

This is the donor. Has been a good truck to me. Was my dream truck when I was younger and got the chance to buy it so I do. I would rather have.a running F450 though. Has a Kingpin 60 in the front that will go into my F250.

No, the duped us. Lesson learned, going to pick up the truck this morning from the dealer in a million pieces. They put the top end on a pallet and wrapped it. Should only have a short block in it right now.

Why not just toss a JY motor in it, and sell it..? What is the planned use for the truck going to be once the 7.3 is in it?

.......another twist to the story.

A good friend and I took his roll back to the dealer to pick it up today, turns out he wants the WHOLE truck and is going to get it back running. They said #7 is about .060" scarred. They have all the tools to fix it though

Bye Bye POS 6.4

The End.

The pickup makes a lot more power. Our f350 C&C are very slow compared to pickups.

I believe the 450 pickup is also rated to tow more than any c&c 450/550 due to the power.

You'll probably do like I did and just park the 700. The 450 has more power, more brakes and more creature comforts. Nice buy.

Explain how to fit a cab over, a 30' gooseneck stock trailer and a 84' bloomer trailer onto 1 F450?

Backwoods, wtf? No platinum package?

Loaded the Bloomer up, definitely needs air bags. Softer rear suspension than the 2008. The truck moves the trailer like nothing though. The 08 would groan to get it moving. Just let off the brake in the 16 and it's rolling.

My initial thoughts on the truck. Love the vinyl floor, floor shift 4x4, and full manual lockout hubs, no vacuum auto crap. Really like the Alcoa/HSR wheel and tire combo too. The truck is a stripper but it has a CD player, small dash readout and a few 2016 perks like EOH trailer brake controller, all work truck though. Tow haul mode is a lot nicer than the 08 and the exhaust brake is very aggressive. With 4.30 gears it lays you back in the seat. Curious on how it would line up with my buddies 16 F250.

My buddy showed up with a check last night and we handed him the title to the 08.

Bloomer shakedown run will be this afternoon, have a 4.5hr trip down south with it. Picking up our 2000 excursion tomorrow too. Almost done with the Ford truck shuffle.

Nice looking truck. Looks like it's here to work and keep making all of you some money.

Seems like the only Ford diesels you haven't had in your adventures seems to be a 6.0 and an IDI. So which one is going to make it's way into the Backwoods Ford Funny Farm next?
