2005/6 Silverado Diesel

My SIL and his father have a good business with state of the art equipment bringing insurance wrecks back to life. They specialize in rust free GM pickups from the South and Southwest. This one is from Texas.

They have a 2005/6 3500 CCLB diesel with 145,000 on it. Simply waiting its turn to be rebuilt. This one would not have a salvage title.

My 2017 1500 lease is up 1st of the year and I am considering this other truck. Problem is that its already 14/15 years old, style wise doesn't bother me, in fact they are more "truckish" than the newer ones which I like.

Insurance isn't an issue even on a salvage title. Not sure the $$ as they need to see what they will have into it at the end. Anything I want replaced or added on can be done before I buy it.

What to look for ?
What's a fair price for something like this..........Tough question I know.
How well do these trucks age ?
145,00 much of an issue with major parts ?

Understand its a tough series of questions especially not knowing the history or the price. General comments would be welcome.

If it’s a 2006 with the LBZ I’d be all over it...with all things equal, i.e. truck running good and not breaking the bank on rebuilding it.

Have I been conditioned to read straight through those things not realizing it and just accepting it. :tinfoil:

The lbz 6spd allison is about the best truck you can get, my 05 is an lly 5 speed allison, great truck, terrible economy, they fixed that with the 06.

Mine was a light wreck/theft recovery, bought with 44k in 2013. I intended to flip it and keep my fummins, sold the fummins

Has 100k now, I intend to get 250k out of it hooked to a trailer
