Wide load permit in ca

I'm interested in a wide load permit that allows you to haul up to 10'. Everything I read online says it's just an anual fee and your gtg but I cant find any info on how to actually get one. I dont need one right now but I accasionally have the need... 2-3◊ a year and dont want to keep pushing my luck or limiting my trips.

Few years back when I had to get one it was just a matter of calling some number telling them the route and paying like 10 bucks - super simple and easy. I think what you're talking about is a blanket wide load permit, but it's probably expensive and maybe needs a DOT number/commercial stuff?

What are you hauling? Just put an orange triangle on it, and get a follow car with flashers, if stopped say it’s agricultural use.

Anywhere within 30 miles of my house I'd be fine. Also under 10' you just need a wide load banner and no chase car if you have one of these imaginary permits.
