I don't think there is much of a difference in pulling between the 2. I pulled my 30' flatbed with the GN hitch for years behind my truck. When I upgraded to the HDT, it had both the GN and a 5th on it. I used the GN for a while, but it was a pain in the ass to hook up. I swapped over to the kingpin on it, and now use the 5th. I have noticed the trailer doesn't jerk as bad as it used to, but it pulls the same.

What I hadn't realized before (until upgrading to the kingpin) is that the jaws on the 5th wheel hitch actually capture the pin based on the shape. The GN does something similar, but most of them rely on gravity (or pin weight) to hold the trailer on the ball, and the catch just wedges under the ball. Similar in design, but not as secure. That being said, the GN pivots around the ball, where the 5th is more rigid (trailer will twist instead of articulating on the ball).

Cuz the first part of your post is confusing...
Are you referring to the gooseneck trailer hooked onto a bumper pull ball hitch?
It looks like you are running a converter hitch (5th wheel pin) on a g.n. Trailer?(yes?)

I will throw this in, for those who never thought about it...

Ever wonder why a g.n. Hitch must run safety chains?
Off road they articulate great but...
My trailer is a gooseneck with an adjustable neck. I got it with the interchangeable kingpin insert so I can tow it with the 5th wheel in my truck instead of a goose ball. I did this specifically to tow doubles. I never use my trailer with a ball.

They both load the truck the same, and should pull the same. The difference is as stated above, security of the connection. I don't have the problem that you do with trailer twist because my RV 5th wheel has side to side tilt, unlike most HDT 5th wheels. If you want to take the stress off of your trailer, you can find a 5th wheel with side tilt for an HDT, they are just taller which may or may not make a difference to you.

So #40'snolift means remove the bed and 90% of the front fenders?

Neat.

Started loading Friday after work, finished loading on Monday and started driving with no sleep,

All Monday (35 mph, 3 mpg, and 500 gas stops later) got 150 miles away on Tuesday, started unloading non-stop and finished Thursday morning. Had a few beers.

Couldn't go fishing because the had to start packing on Friday AM early, finished on Sunday night. Drove home and couldn't unpack because he had to work Monday am.

Don't worry he'll just un-pack all next weekend long.

Heavy, hard to attach, hard to adjust, expensive, towed funky with the pivot way back there, big to store, massive tire scrub, and no articulation. So, ok I guess

Had a buddy with 37's on a super duty and a low 5th wheel like that. The dolly doesn't work well in the sand either

I''ll see if I can find pics

I wasn't fast enough, but we've had more snow in the last week than we typically get in several years, so everyone that has something that can push snow, has been making money clearing parking lots, etc. Heading home around 1130 on Monday night from clearing walkways on apartment buildings, and I see a set of headlights pointed at the sky and wobbling side to side coming down the road.

Its was an SRW chev 2wd, with a dumpbox, with a bobcat in the box. Truck had a solid 10 degrees of bend from cab to box, and was sliding all over the place, shaking and swaying. Pretty sure it was the most dangerous thing I saw all week.
