I should have it welded on in the next couple days. I have it right where I need it.. I just gotta there welder to the house. Only thing I don't like is the engine is not as far back as I would like. But I am not going to cut and re-weld the mount for 2". The chassis fit perfectly. with about 1/2" frame sticking out the front and rear. Also Ill need to box the ends (frame horns)for support. The rear axle will be moved later to center it in the rear portion of the chassis. And to extend the wheel base to about 103". That puts the axle just behind the rear cross member. Which will be used to mount the top coil retainer and shock mounts. right now the front has a 5" lift and the rear sits slightly lower than stock. SO the rear will be raised from its current position by almost 4".

cool idea, seems like with the chassis why not just make a buggy, but i guess its cheaper then getting a good cage done anyways. And who likes to follow the bandwagon i know i dont. Nice to be how you want it to be cant wait to see some skins on it. It will be pimp

Okay, I don't mean any disrespect, but why? I just don't get it. Why not just move everything into a buggy and save the weight? Since you're gonna cut up the frame anyway(or I would), why not just lose the frame and swap everything into a full buggy chassis. Are you planning on using the EB skins and stuff and basically "bob" the front and rear.

What are you plans for the rest?

I think whatever works.
For a full on buggy he would have to deal with making mounts for everything.
This is ready to rock and roll for half the truck. Oh and you might could get away with making this street legal too.

Well, that is true. I'd be curious how the DMV in Texas would look at it too.

I don't know about Tx, but here I bet I could pull it off.
He says he will use the skins. The only thing that may give him trouble would be the windshield.

its going to be street legal. The title says its a 74 bronco and I have ever thing I need to make it legal. front and rear lights, horn, brakes, blah blah blah...

Skins Will only cover the small sides and the engine. Covering the engine is mostly for when it sits in the driveway. To keep the rain off the wiring.
As for the chassis. This is a toy class chassis. Its not the X chassis. The X has the lower frame replacement. The cost is what kept me from going full chassis. I don't need to cut any thing off the frame. The frame is 1" longer than the chassis (1/2" in the front and rear). The only thing that needs to be done to make it work, is moving the rear axle back a minimum of 10". other than that its a perfect fit.

here are the specs on the Hendrix chassis.
hope ya don't mind David...
152"

specs drawing

here are the specs on the bronco. the bronco measures from the center of the holes at the end of each end. Not all the way to the end of the frame horns. 150 7/8"

specs drawing

GRRR I hate ya! Just when I say no more projects, you come along!! Already got a pretty nice almost finished 72 bronco with a 351, 5" lift, 4.88s and 35" boggers. Almost too nice to beat up.

BUT..... I know where theres a frame with diffs and the D20 for 400 CDN and some others want the diffs so easily could get the frame and D20 for under 75 USD then go full width 60s and 42s.

like many of yall, my build up is determined by over time and my ability to save. Both of which have been a bit lacking.

My plans were not to paint it till the frame and all the brackets were done. But lack on funds, the last couple weeks, have left me with very little to do. Not wanting to lose interest, I decided to start paint it. The painting is about 75% done.

2 weeks ago, I almost scored a set of 39" boggers on rims. But my friend needed them to move his blazer. So next weekend Ill be ordering a new set of rims. And putting some 33" tire on to be able to roll it.

Work is on hold till next weekend

lil update-Moving has slowed down progress a lot.
leaf spring are gone. It sits at 113" WB. Now its too long, so Ill have to shorten it.
5.0/C4/D20 are mounted
decided to go with a 14Bolt
and chevy outers on the HPD44
pics below

Here are pics of the way it sits today. I cut off the stock brackets. I am going with coil overs. They are sitting on the back on the buggy I think. I still need to do a little grinding where the brackets were. I mocked up the front hummer rims to see how they would look. I don't feel like doing shit without a compressor.

clcik the pics to enlarge

haven't done any work last 2 days (work). But here are a few pics I took 2 days ago. I removed the old 5 lug hubs and disk to give away. But I had to move the buggy away from the wall. So I used a furniture dolly and my engine hoist. I decided to go ahead and clean the new knuckle and replace the ball joints. Every thing else will go back together the way it is, till I get the gears installed. I also need to swap the PS pump pulley

I lost my ass today

well she lost her fat ass today

I stared today by test fitting the fuel cell. I couldn't decide whether to put it on the frame or make it level with the top of the rear section.

I needed to mock the fuel to find out how high I could allow the rear axle to flex. For that I need to mock up the control arm brackets and control arms. After doing that I found the stock crossmemebr was in the way (bad).

Here is about where the axle will sit when it mounted. minus the tie down straps
