Been wheeling, that's what

Updated the wife's thread for ya'll.

Here is some tech to hold folks over. Lori made this lovely drive line hoop because she did not have fond memories of her auto getting knocked out by the driveline.

This:

Green one isn't getting links... mostly standard leaf spring setup(front and rear):
  • 99 Tahoe rear springs (54")
  • Leaf spring sliders instead of shackles
  • No f'n shackle reversal

Flexes kind of nice on the fork lift:

Links are going on 55 number 2(aka brown one)

Green one is here:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/dai...ild-up.211723/

It is a "mild" build for non-stupid driving on hard trails It is wrapping up with "mild" wiring issue.

Brown one is here:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/tra...-wrong.889841/
Brown is the "hardcore" do stupid stuff on the trail build that is slowly starting. It is getting drivetrain put in shortly.

Both spec out similar to keep common spare parts:
  • LSx engines: 6.0L in green and Turbo 5.3L in brown
  • FJ62 vacumn controlled tcases
  • 60" wide Dana 60 axles: Dodge in green, HP in brown. Both offset to passenger side exactly same
  • 60" wide Ford E350 van Dana 60 axles in rear. Both offset to passenger side exactly same

I have a question... Why is it that on the Cruiser forum, the threads drop off after a couple of weeks of inactivity? The Izuzu forum has threads showing from April of last year and Hummer from Dec 2015 ??? Having threads, even if they're old ones would let people check out threads that they maybe missed while not being on Pirate for a couple weeks. Just say'n.

I hear ya.

the display option box at the bottom of the forum page.....

the default is 10 days.....
changing it to 45 days gets us back to mid Dec. with a full page.

I know the initial viewing of the forum wouldn't look as dismal if the default was 30+ days....

Mr. Walker?

I don't see a "display options" link?

At least there's some replies and general activity this week.

When you reply to a thread scroll down go to manage attachment. Then click on choose file and on my iPad or iPhone a prompt pops up asking me from where. After you've selected all the photos scroll over and press upload. Then close that window. You'll be redirected back to the reply page. Then submit reply or preview post.

Funny, I never noticed the " Display Options " box at the bottom. I see that you can manually change the settings, but it reverts back to its initial setting once you leave. Dog Walker or Justin, can you change this setting so that more threads are visible when visiting the Cruiser page?

pirate in general seems to be dead the last while but no one being able to login would be a large part of that. i don't post my stuff because its nothing special and thats what this place expects not to mention its a pain to upload all the pictures then link the all here to post whereas facebook or instagram you push one button on the phone and theres all the pictures uploaded.

now for those of you who dont know there is a landcruiser build (sorta) hiding in another section

I'll log on to the admin page and see if there is an option to change the default.

And yes, a lot of people lost their log in's and just gave up trying. There are other forums that I belong to and that happened to me.

I always dug the vibe here. I had to have my email reset but I've logged in a couple times lately. Next time I do a little something on the 40 I'll post up!

The password protection fiasco keep me from logging in for a few months. I changed it but I never use 10 character passwords so if I hadn't been here in a few weeks I'd have to reset it over again. Did that three times and think I finally remember it.

That said, social media still hasn't figured out how to be knowledge repository where you can search and find info. Every other post is a basic retread and that gets lame, good for pictures, bad for having an actual community or real discussion. On both those fronts it's still forums for the win (or maybe I'm just getting old).

My FJ40 has been on hiatus while I built up a massive stack of parts in the wings. I was almost ready to get back to it when I found out my office is closing so I get to work on finding a new job instead.

I'd forgotten the password debacle. Hadn't considered the repercussions. I don't even know mine, still have the temp one Pirate sent me and had the computer remember it.

That's part of the problem, you shouldn't feel like you can't post your build because it's "nothing special." All builds are special for different reasons. I'd love to see your build. Too many people flame others for their build because it's not how they would build a rig. Post it up, I'd like to see it. Just ignore the haters, they don't have a rig of their own, like dima.
