Finally got the tub setting on there. Time to get it rolled outside so I can paint the cage and all of the remaining parts.

I had to get the cruiser moved outside so I can paint the cage and the rest of the misc parts. I can't bolt the tub down until the cage goes on as the tub is sandwiched between all over the place. I took the opportunity to get a few pics outside in the sun.

Thank you, I'm really happy with how it's coming out, I can't wait to drive it.

I've been waiting for filters for my mask to finish painting and they finally showed up yesterday. In the meantime I've been getting the cage and remaining parts ready for paint. My wife helped me put the windshield back on this morning, she helped put the tub on too, she's been a big help. I also spent a little time cleaning up and repainting the badges for the aprons.

Looks good. It's really coming together nicely. Have you done much painting before?

I didn't paint the body myself. I was scrambling to try to get ready in time for UA so I had a local guy paint it. The paint is single stage. When I found out I hadn't made it past the Dirty Dozen I was able to relax some. I sprayed the frame myself and it was the first time I've ever used a gun. I used the stuff from Eastwood with Ceramic in it. Their epoxy primer went on great, the chassis paint was a different story. I may have needed to thin it out.

A little more progress. Got the cage painted and installed. Let's say it was an "interference" fit. lol I've got a few more things left to paint and I can get the cruiser back into the shop to bolt everything down, install the front sheet metal, and it's WIRING TIME!

Thank you for the compliments guys, I really appreciate it! I spent some time getting the garage cleaned up. We did some minimizing in the house which entailed ditching the entire home theater system. So I maximized the garage, Lol. Shop now has surround sound and a sub. My son gave me a motorcycle for Father's Day (same bike as his, 80' Kawasaki 750dohc LTD) I'm hoping we can work on them together in the shop this winter. He bought a house in our neighborhood and moved out last year. It's awesome having him down the street, he's a great kid.
Anyway, all of the remaining parts are hanging and prepped for paint. I'll be shooting primer in the morning when it's cool.

I'll tell you something funny about that gate. I didn't want to ever have to take the slats down again so I sprung for the composite stuff (the AZ sun eats everything but wood fencing especially fast). So I finish the gate, get it set in place and install all the slats. And after a few days they all bowed. that was like six or seven years ago. It bugs me every time I look at it and I've been talking about adding another piece of flat strap in the middle since the day after I finished it. Maybe when the cruisers done...

How about some rear view mirror shenanigans? My stock mirror was toast and I wanted something that had a retro look to it, I found this mirror on Amazon for around 15 bucks I think. The mirror needs to mount to the cage but I'm anal retentive as hell so it's got to be clean. I installed a 1/4-20 nutsert in the cage for mounting. Then I popped the ball stud out of the stock mirror, turned it down and rethreaded it to 1/4-20. I threaded the ball stud into the cage. Once I'd removed the original arm and mount from the new mirror, I tied it all together with an adjustable arm from RAM. I think I need to add some kind of home-brew "knurling" to the balls to keep it holding in position well enough, we'll see. It was a fun little detail though.

Still plugging away, I got the radiator and mount, fan, power steering cooler, battery mount and battery, fuel cell mounts and rollover vent tubing, hood bumpers for the windshield, OEM side mirrors and the GPS (for fun) installed. The OEM mirror mounts are basically breakaway in their adjustability which is awesome. Stock looks but functional. I bent up the "three sides and down" style vent tube from some extra stainless tubing I had laying around. I'll add a catch can or filter later. Hopefully I got it right, lol. Boy are people not kidding about that last 5% of the project kicking your ass! What is with the damn sideways pics?

Thank you! I really thought I'd be on to wiring by now but it does feel good to be knocking out all of these little things. It's also really nice to be installing all the parts and pieces that've been taking up room everywhere in the garage (and the bedroom, house, etc.). My wife has been um... very patient.

Fabbed up a little bracket from aluminum and got the brake proportioning valve mounted and plumbed to the MC.

Had a little fun with the brake lines last night. It's not finished or secured yet so it may not all be totally square in the pic.

Thank you, I really enjoy bending small bore tubing. It's almost therapeutic to me I guess.

I wish I had your brake line bending skills. I don't, bitched out, and went with flex hose
Your 40 is looking awesome. Can't wait to see it done
