Sunday I was able to get fluids in the transfer case, crawl box and tranny...... I still had some wiring to hook up for the tranny controls...... the computer needed a "key on" power source for the tranny controls plus had to swap out the Toyota brake light switch to one from GM that has connections for the computer to get a signal when the pedal is not pressed but opens the signal when the brakes are pressed...... this meant I had to drill and tap the threaded hole the switch screws into to mount the switch..... once this was done I re-installed the exhaust pipe I removed to help get clearance for tranny removal and re-install and was ready to start it up and see how everything worked....... Everything works as planned, I did not drive it yet but I have the entire truck on jackstands so I can run the tires and cycle the steering to bleed out the power steering. Which I did, coolant is all full and bled out, tranny has all 14 quarts of fluid in it and all is well...... So far so good.

And this brings us up to date......

Might have missed it? What type/thickness are you running for your fenders?

I just had 5 days of workin on this monster and have it almost ready to wheel..... I got more done than I was expecting and about all I have left is plastic on the front fenders and I'll be ready to wheel.....

Wednesday I had off for Veterans day and I started with the crappy job of removing the boxes to tend to the tranny fluid leak.... I got that done and then I went ot work on the small stuff that needed to get done.

Fairlead, recovery hook and suck down mount;

Also had some leftover aluminum diamond plate layin around so I decided to mount it so stuff can t fall out of the truck while the tube doors are one..... this allowed me to remove the lower bar from the tube doors;

Thursday I wanted to get the front driveline hooked up which meant a mount for the carrier bearing;

Next came protection for the plastic intake manifold on the engine..... it sets literally a coupla inches below the hood so if I crush the hood and crack the intake I'm dead on the trail even after I get back on the tires...... Insert engine cage;

Yes, this was going to stick through the hood so cutting of the hood was necessary..... I was not excited about this job.......

Friday I started off by building a little aluminum cover for the engine cage, dimple died it and got it painted orange, painted the engine cage black got it installed. Next was cutting the hood....... Once this was done I proceeded to paint the hood the new color.... I also removed the cowl piece and painted it too;

Saturday was all about painting the cab..... Now I wasn't originally going to get to this til January but the weather was good and I had time to get this pulled off.

Masked and 1 coat on;

By the end of the day I had 3 coats on, windows put back in, everything else bolted back on including the hood and cowl;

Here's the hood and engine cage;

Sunday was cold cloudy and rainy...... Plastic fenders and bedsides were gonna be a real PITA....... First I had to get a skid plate built and under that set of gearboxes;

Just cos everyone wants to know...... This is with 20 PSI in the tires but measuring from a piece of plywood that sets under the truck all the time so this may be accurate even at trail pressure;

Then on to plastic bedsides and fenders.... I opted to get the bedsides and the rear part of the front fenders done first as they are all just duplicates of the white ones I took off. I got these done just in time for dinner and then I cleaned up and called it a weekend.... Plus I was out of rivets. The front part of the front fenders will take some time as they are new pieces and will take some time to get installed. Its really damn Orange now;

Tube doors are goin black and the full doors are goin Orange in December.

Friday I was able to get a few more things done to get it ready for Sunday's shakedown run, I got a new muffler installed and the plastic on the front fenders. I also took it for a drive down the highway to feel the shifts, lockup and listen for any odd noises.... All went well so I think its ready for the dirt;

Update, Ran Friday and Saturday over Thanksgiving weekend and everything is working great. The Klune has a drip from the shifter shaft but I think its cos its filled too full but working great for me.

Hope to get the full doors painted this weekend and add some black to the rocker panels cos its REALLY effin orange..... The confederate flag on the roof will come when it gets a little warmer.

Cant wait to start on the back half over new years...... Stay tuned.
