Perfect time to ask since you are going at the fuel cell. Does the cell need to be pressurized or vented for a 4.3 c.p.I. engine? I have the pressure and return lines plumbed in on mine just not sure if I need a vent or just cap the 3rd port on my cell.

Any cell needs a vent of some sort or it will suck it in like a can...

Ya I am going to do it like I did my last one except going to do it to also aid in center structural support.

So still working in the rear I wanted to see about getting the rear winch installed. One thing I wanted was it down in the chassis. Sat down and came up with a cradle of sorts.

Next was seats--yes I wanna be able to sit and make vrrrrm vrrrrrm noises, lol.

Anybody who has done a tube chassis knows how tight it is to get seats in. I am going to have to modify the passenger seat frame over the tcase and I still gotta do the from inner mounts.

But ya have no idea how good it feels to have seats mounted..

So onto the battery tray's. One need I have with them is the ability to access the top post's to hook up my welder. Over the years I have used it many times on other folks rigs to get them off the trail and with my old toy they were VERY easily accessible and wanted to try to achieve the same.

So that unfortunately eliminates them being more forward the chassis and down low. Well after much thought I chose as far forward as possible and down into the chassis as possible. They are angled in such a way I can see the post's and also hug the links and clear the driveshaft. I know since they are down in the chassis it makes them more vulnerable from being smacked but I never hit anything in this area on my toy.

I got the mounts done. The trays are supported front and back and on the inside by some 1" tube and 2 tabs on the outside to the main chassis. It should be pretty strong and hold up good I hope...

So next onto the trans cooler. I found a sweet spot for it. I had wanted to tie both rear shock hoops together and the piece of tube was in the perfect spot. So I made mounts and walla the trans cooler. The fan will be reversed as a pusher as to not blow hot air onto the fuel cell and it still give me good access to the battery posts with it in that spot.

So the rear is really taking shape and now onto the front so I can get the front drive shaft figured out. I found where I think I wanted the front pinion angle to be so I pulled it out and changed the caster since the lower mounts are on the knuckle I wanted everything spot on.

So I talked with brian who is building my shafts and got some insight on the front shaft. So I took my old shafts and luckily I have a pile of parts and mocked up a front shaft. I am happy to say its going to work beautifully and tight as it might be her should be able to build me a front shaft thats going to be strong and fit nicely.

This part totally excited me--crazy how much more it looks like a rig with tires on it. Its now sitting on its own on full compression.

The reason for doing the tires is to check clearance on the front.

But damn I am loving the fact its to this point...

So I flexed the front and nothing hits. The front bumper pic is a bad one as I should have taken it looking down--but plenty of room. The rear is kinda close and might scrub the paint off but I was happy with the checked both sides and both are identical...

Now with knowing the front doesn't hit now I am onto the front and winch mount.

How much slip are you going to be using on the front DL, or do you know yet?

On your dual battery welder setup I'm curious, could a remote post setup be made for better access? I'm not suggesting that you should have done so on your setup, I just dont know much about that type of system.

It can do 12v or 24v and I always run it in 24v so trying to rig something at can be switched to series is kinda pointless...
