More than likely Gilmer at the end of October. Possibly Hot Springs in 2 weeks for Southern Cruiser Crawl.

The truck is back home as of yesterday afternoon.

I started working on some odds and ends to get it ready for a shakedown at the end of October. Change rear diff oil, install Lube Locker gasket, repaint diff cover, secure rear light harness, fab rear brake light bezels/ turn signal mounts, secure rear brake lines, extend power lines to trans cooler, re-run rock lights, modify and remount muffler, finish half doors, fab lower rear bump stop mounts, secure the spare, and most importantly mount the ice chest.... Then onto an overall nut and bolt check..

All the tedious things take more time than expected..

I finished the tail light bezels, installed the muffler, repainted the rear diff cover, installed a Lube Locker gasket in the 14B, added some 80W-90, new hardware for the diff, and tied down the ice chest. I threw the spare on to get it out of the way and to see if it would fit if need be. A small tool box or chest will more than likely reside in that location. Bump stops and brake lines should be finished by tonight or tomorrow. Shake down in 9 days at our annual Fall Run at BMRA in Gilmer, TX.

I finally got the Lower bump mounts finished. they are a mix of leftover tabs, gussets and mounts I had laying around: Ballistic 4" gussets, Barnes bump pads, and RuffStuff panhard pieces. I temporarily zip tied my brake lines out of the way since I ran out of shielding gas.

I'm heading out for the shakedown tomorrow to see how everything works out.

Well the first run on the new 4 link went pretty well. I hit a couple decent obstacles. The real test will be on some rock hopefully before the end of the year.

I wrapped up a few odds and ends last night before this weekends run to K2 in Mason, TX. I had to add another exhaust hanger on my muffler since I forgot to do it.

Then a full on nut, bolt, fluid check. My steering arms were loose so i got them cranked down again. Re torqued all the lugs and bead lock bolts. After that had a few relaxing Lone Stars..

K2 2019 opener

K2 was pretty hard on the red truck. We had a great time with minimal issues and a few love taps were added. I finally made a few of the trails that I hadn't previously (Hannibal Lector, Smoking Butthole, Waskilly Wabbit and King Arthur) I crunched the driver side Xtra cab, window, front fender, and developed a leak in my full hydro. Other than that, it was a great weekend with great people. I'm tearing into the steering now to get it ready for the next trip in March. I am revamping the Reservoir location/feed and replacing the 2 leaking hoses on the suction feed to the pump and the pressure feed from the pump to the orbital.

We had another solid weekend at K2 for the Lone Star Land Cruiser Roundup. The Steering changes worked a lot better on the steep inclines. I will be reworking the suspension to lower my roll center some. This may include swapping some springs on my coilovers if necessary (with some help/input from some friends) The truck gets way tippy at times and likes to unload in the rear. I had a pretty close call on Backdoor that could have been nasty if I went over. We will be rechecking the rig weight an link geometry in the calculator and adjust from there. A few pics...

He did pretty well. At least I avoided disaster on Back Door which could have been bad.

I have been working on a few things in order to lower the truck some more. I'm going to try to bring all aspects of suspension lower. I got all of the secondary transition adjuster jamb nuts adjusted correctly last night and measured the compressed coil lengths at each corner to see if a coil swap may be necessary. The staff at Accutune calculated the corner weights at 915 on the front corners and 575 for the rears according to my compressed spring measurements. That puts me close to 4250 which is close to what I expected. I'm working on getting my lower links closer to horizontal at ride height. It will be a lot of work, but it will pay off in the end with a lower and more stable ride.

I should have my parts in this week to add an tail support to the Atlas and separate the lower skid from the Transmission (hopefully to prevent future issues)

Well I scrapped the whole 1UZ swap. In all honesty the wiring was probably going to be a nightmare. Found a good deal locally on a 5.3 and 4L60. Just seems like a better option for serviceability, overall size compared to the UZ, more HP.. Probably opened up a bigger can of worms but oh well LS time it is.

I also gave up on the 1UZ swap due to the wiring and not enough tech out there. Being my first engine swap I didn't have the confidence to build the rig around the 1UZ and postpone the wiring until the very end and get stumped on it all.....However, it's a lot easier if you just use the entire 1UZ harness.. Settled for the 3.4L because I had 2 of them laying around and had a screaming deal on a SC..... I also had limited room to work with length wise to a 5.3 was going to be tight... It's a PITA to start throwing buggy caliber parts at a full body rig and keep it low and all the geometry correct..

I hear ya on that. The front suspension may require some rework if/when the motor swap happens. I may just build this 5.3 for a buggy that will more than likely come down the road.

I have been searching for a while for the right camper for my gooseneck trailer. I found one this past weekend and will hopefully have it attached by this weekend. I need to build a sub-frame to raise the camper high enough to clear the gooseneck. should be easy peasy..
