Tb-f exo cage thread

So right off I dont want to come off arrogant or anything here but... I dont get on here very often but when I do every 3 months or so there is inevitably a pm from someone who likes the cage on my old doved' 87 that I sold years ago. Said pm'er always wants to see how it goes to the frame/how it looks behind where you cant see it, so instead of sending individual pictorial responses to each person I can now direct them here. If you like my cages, thanks, I like then too. If you dont, well too bad, cuz' I still like them

So here's the truck that apparently started my flood of mesages. Built in '04. Nothing too special, doved 87 with my 2nd exo ever, taylorbilt sas, lce engine, 38's bla bla bla...

And with that, here's some newer ones that better show how to route the slinky exo behind the fenders. Yes, I know it does nothing for side protection, but I was woried more about head protection and not geting tubes hung up on the many tight trees here in the pnw.

Here's a 85. Here you can see how the a pillar tubes run behind the fenders to the rock sliders.

and the same shot with the fender set over it before making mounting tabs for the fender,

Here you can see the same basic thing in this excelent poser shot of my 81. 79-83 trucks are great to run the tube thru the fenders, it's nice and open in there, it's like they were ment for it. Later models you have to do a bit of "clearnceing" with a hammer to make room for the tubes but the fenders cover it up

Again on a 87.

Testing for impact resistance in extreme cold

[IMG][/IMG]

Hiding tubes behind fender without fender trimming to match tube.

"Cutaway" view

[IMG][/IMG]

Aftermath of many rolls and flops on my 81 But hey, I saved the original cage and it was still strait

[IMG][/IMG]

Mmmm-k good luck to all exo-fabers to be.

i wish someone local to me had the knowledge and skill to do this... cause if they do, they don't do it... if we have cages, they are janky crap
