I know a guy with a 318 in his toy and I wheeled with a guy last week that had a 440 in his 88 4runner. It can be done if thats what youre after. both guys I know did a complete drivetrain swap. which I think is a good idea for any engine swap like this..

been wanting to put a 360 magnum, and a 435 in a toy for awhile now, just lacking a toy, and a engine. Go for it, and take some pics.

yeah, it looked like a fun rig for what he built it for! I run a 350 in mine and he was trying to tell me I needed a set up like his, naahh. Mine is plenty of motor for what I built it for...

I've been trying to convince my friend that his extra 440 for his '67 Coronet R/T would be sweet in my 'Runner. He ain't going for it...

I'd say do it! one thing I did learn after some messing around with these is that the block has 2 different options for engine mounts on it with ~4" difference between them. Using the ear tabs on the block with a U style mount or more centered on the block with a flat style mount.

there are some block pictures and mounting style pictures in my half assed build thread "shiny objects" in the tow rig sub forum on here.

The stock mounts are also set up to offset the engine in the bay instead of centered. solid motors and fairly easy to work on if you aren't a retard (side note; if you happen to check out my build thread, note that I am a retard )

Yeah I'm not sure if i'm gonna do this or not. I might just 22re swap and gear it. I just am tired of having a 3.0 and having it struggle to turn 33's at highway speeds. I have the 360 and a 22re so I wouldn't have to buy either engine.

This day and age, there is no reason to swap a 22re in place of anything that isn't already a 22r or 22re.

anything OBD2 is going to be superior in dang near every way. If you think the 3.0 is struggling, there is no reason to go with an engine with lower performance

Plenty of info out there. Go to the A bodies only forum. Magnum swaps. Then use google.

the 3.0 is acting up. when i first start it everything is fine my guess is cold thick oil. after a while of it running while idling the oil pressure drops dangerously low and the valve train starts making noise and even under load with the oil pressure being normal the valve train makes noise. rather than spend money on this shitty engine i would rather swap something in. the 22re has reliability and the 360 has the power. the 22re would be easiest to swap in as the 360 is so fucking wide the fabbing would be crazy. I am sick of the weak power of the 3.0 but I would trade power for reliability as I am a broke college student but I would also love the power of a v8. I just have some thinking to do.
