I am supposed to meet my son at Blue Lakes Rd and the PCT trail head. Anyone know conditions in Hope Valley to spend a night. Amador ranger station told me the road is plowed, just wondering about the amount of snow.
Thanks in advance

Hope Valley is very clear, snow only at the peaks. I assume Blue Lakes Road is fully open to Blue Lakes (PCT). Maybe confirm by checking the PG&E website to see if the camp grounds at Blue Lakes are open?

Thanks I appreciate the response. Blue Lakes is still closed. Going to do dispersed camping in Hope Valley some place.

I heard from a friend the road to Blue Lakes is open, but sounds like the camp grounds are closed. A good place to camp is in Hope Valley off the road to Scotts Lake. Easy to get any size camper in there. I have had my truck and camper, towing my jeep, all the way to Scotts Lake.

From the 88/89 Junction, head towards Kirkwood. In about half a mile you cross a bridge over the Carson River. About 1/4 mile past that take a right off 88. The camping is straight ahead and to the right at the base of the mountain. You likely will see other rigs there.

Its not a bad place to camp, but a word to the wise is its all boondocking there. There are no tables, no water, no bathrooms....nothing except places between trees and open areas to park a rig. We used to cap there with our toy hauler, but we had a full bathroom and 130 gallons of water onboard, not to mention a 5500w generator. Made it real easy to camp in locations like that. So if you are setup right, its not a bad place to go.

Thanks for the info. I will be there for less than 24 hours. My son is hiking the PCT and we are meeting him and his 4 hiking buddies at Blue Lakes Rd and PCT. I know there is a ton of camping spots in Hope Valley. I am bringing all my junk for camping and plenty of water.

Blue Lakes Rd was open to Lower Blue Lakes. The campground is supposed to open this week and Deer Valley is still 4 - 5 weeks away.

Just got back from DV! Epic trip! Weather was perfect

Trail is pretty dry and looks like some lesser capable rigs went in Hermit Valley side...as its got some ruts and wear/tear from no gearing or poor driving.

Otherwise trail looks pretty nice and creek was flowing

High was 85, low was 49. Typical 40+/- swing of the high country
