AxleTech 4000

Putting a feeler out to find some AxleTech 4000 steering units near eastern Colorado. Preferably complete OE axles as I do need air brakes. I’ll consider the ISAS units, too. Final ratio isn’t too much of a concern as long as the planetary set is high speed. I don’t mind traveling as far as my home state of Missouri for the right axle(s).

Are you wanting 2 steer axles or a front and rear (non steer)? Wide 6.83 geared or narrow 5.63?

There is a local seller in Peoria AZ selling set with wheels/tires. I can see if still available, I believe he was asking $5,000 for the complete package

Ultimately, three steering units with the same width. Best find I’ve come across so far is in Bells, TX. with 84” steers for $2,000 each. Thought I might strike a great deal at a surplus yard in CO., the state with the most military bases, but I’m coming up dry.

Watch out about buying those used narrow one like the ones in Bells. Used narrow fronts were often removed when they failed from running over a land mine. It usually stretches out the king pins.

I have a few pairs (front steer and rear non steer). I have both narrow and wide types.

Indeed. They’re listed on eBay, but I’m not buying any off there until I get to see them in person and take a few measurements. Where’s your hardware at? I should be able to arrange a trip with cash and trailer soon.

Mine are all new except for 1 rear axle. I won't buy the used narrow fronts.

Me likes the smell of new bearings. Have WMS to WMS measurements on them? I may need to get a rear just for parts to toy with. 84” width is a pretty good fit, but the AT spec sheet shows quite a few available widths on the 4000 series. Curious about prices, too. PM if you want to keep that quiet.

The wides are 90.5" and the narrows are about 6" narrower.
