I just called every junkyard in my area for prices on '88-98 rear 1/2 ton Chevy leaf springs. One place (the cheapest) quoted me at $85 over phone. About 5 others said $100, while one other yard told me they'd let them go for $90. Is this too much or is it about right?

I payed $100 for mine. They came with shackles. And I didnt have to unbolt them.

I say its a fair price, but can be beat. Try pick-a-part or u-pull-it type yards. Usually about $15 per side.

here's what i do and it works here.

i just walk out there pull what i want and go in and deal with the dude at the counter! i offer way lower than i really want to pay them it gets to where i had in mind and its all good. sometimes they will trade if you have the right stuff!

I had to pull them off my self,(the yard is called Pull-A-Part) but.$11.50 a side, $24,98 out the door with shackles and shocks
try a different county, maybe a drive can save you bucks

Well, spring packs are $11 a side at the Pull-A-Part here...but if the cheapest you can get them for is $100, that's still way less than a good aftermarket spring like All-Pro or Alcan.

I just paid 80 bucks total for the leaves, shackles and U bolts. They pulled them for me and lowered the price $20 bucks when I told them another yard was cheaper, which was true, but the other yard didn't have them.

I pulled mine off of a suburban. Cost $20 each. $40 for a pair of rear springs is my kind of price.

I went to shop that does lifting & lowering. And got a set off a 2001 for $50. They were like new.

I picked 'em up yesterday and haggled 'em down to $80. Not bad. Now I just have to order the bushings, add-a-leaves, and shackles. If I have the money, I may just opt for the skackle flip kits as well. Quick question: Is there a cheap trick to building your own shackle reversals, or should I just fork over the dough?

What do you mean my shackle flip kit? just losen the bolts and twist the shakle around. If you want longer chevy shackles, order some "checy lowering shackles" the length you want or just make your own.

Sounds like you are talking about u-bolt flips -not- shackle reversal? If so check out the Pirate tech section for a cheap alternative
