I am doing a 44044/63" chevy swap this weekend. I want to use 14" Dotch Teck shocks. Currently I have stock shock mounts but (verry soon) plan to make extended shock hoops/mounts. I plan to get 4" of lift with blocks and shakles. Will the 14" fit then. What about when I make the hoops. Will I get enough flex to max out the 14' shocks with this lift? Thanx in advance for your responces. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

If you're going to fab up all your mounts, then, yes, they'll fit.....make them fit.

I to rigged up my shocks, I would hold off until the very last thing you do. Reason, Get the truck flexed up w/ out the shocks. Then you can see where about you need to put them. I have Apro's 5.5" springs and I was woried about maxing them out at the top, so I made my hoops 12 3/4" off the top of the frame. and when I stuffed the tire I still compressed the shock all the way. but the tie rod & drag link were about an 1/8" from hitting the frame. Bump-stops would fix that. But, what ever you do, make sure the steel has a good thick wall to it, I completely ripped off my first set less then 30min on the trail.

Are you talking about for the front or the back? For the front, Ford mounts are hard to beat for the price. There is a good write-up on them on the Wild Yoats site.

For the back, the easiest thing to do is get some Con-Ferr shock mounts on the axle housing and then use the stock crossmember on top like Joe Chacon did. Like YotaRunner said, do this last so you can cycle everything and position the shocks correctly. I would leave a little more down travel than up travel (don't mount exactly in the middle of the stroke) and only kick them in towards the middle as much as necessary to get full travel.
