1982 Jeep Scrambler front axle

I'm working on my front axle, Dana 30, I'm trying to find out if it should have the axle tubes welded to the gear housing and if it should be trussed. I know my rear axle should be. It is the stock AMC 20.
I have 33's and that is as big as I am going. My wheeling experience is novice but am excited to get going. My plan is to go mild not wild. I know these aren't the best axles but I have to make them work for now.
I feel like I'm getting into this about 25 years late.
