Is this a good tranny? It would be used mostly for driving on the road. Also, is it easy to set up? I was gonna get a 4l60e but decided against it since the wiring kit woulda cost 2g's. Anyways, lemme know what you think.

not a good year but can be built up good if I'm not mistaken. a 700r4 is a great transmission when built right.

I heard you want the '89+ or 88+ ones...the cases are stronger, IIRC.

88 and newer uses an "auxilliary valve body" for the 4th gear accumulator, much better pressure for the 3-4 clutch pack, couple of other smaller changes as well, but definetly the 700 (4L60) to have!:D
