I joined this board in 2007 and have posted 3 times since. This forum has been very helpful over the years with my Jeeps. I've always been able to answer my questions concerning Jeeps by searching, but not today.

I have a 1953 Chevy 3600 pickup (3/4 ton). It currently has the factory 216 babbitt pounder and 3-speed transmission. I have a 1977 Chevy 292 that I will be installing in place of the 216. I want to replace the 3 speed manual with a NV3500 4WD transmission and NP241C RH drop transfer case. For now, my truck will remain 2WD, but installing the 4WD transmission and transfer case will make the future 4WD conversion easier and less expensive.

I want to use a 1993-1995 NV3500 from a K1500 and NP241C from a 1989 Suburban 2500. If I understand correctly, the NV3500 has a 32 spline output shaft and the standard round 6 hole bolt pattern. The NP241C from the 1989 Suburban should have a 32 spline input and an adapter to mate it to the transmission. Will the 1993-1995 NV3500 bolt to the 1989 NP241C after I remove the adapter? Will the NP241C input shaft have to be replaced or modified? Is there any difference between the NP241C bolted to a TH400, SM465 and 833?

I'm trying to understand this before I purchased a used transmission and transfer case. Thanks!

So......you're saying the 1993-1995 NV3500 will bolt to the 1989 32 spline NP241 without any changes? Remove the adapter and bolt them together? The 32 spline input shaft is the correct length? Is it really that easy? Seems to good to be true!

If the 3500 is 32spl. I thought they were 27.

Yes. They eliminated adapters for the nv and use the tail housing as the adapter.

Your output shouldnt stick out more than 1/2" past the mating flange.
All nv trans are that way , same with zf and g56

Based on pics I've seen the S10 NV3500 is 27 spline and the 1500 NV3500 is 32 spline.
